Okay, you move out of town and began to seek a church home.  You visit several churches.  There is one in town that belongs to your oranization but there is another one that you visited that blesses you more and has the same feel as the church you left.

Do you join the church of your organization?

Or do you join the church that blesses you the most?
If I was in agreement with the major (heaven/hell, life/death) points of the other church, I would pray about joining.  I wouldn't be miserable to stay in the organization.  The flavor and atmosphere of my organization varies widely from church to church.  I presume that is true with most.  The baptist I know from my hometown of Utah, is not the same as SisterT's baptist, or even the baptist here in Reno.

My church is a member of the World Assemblies of Restoration where Bishop James Nelson (Jonathan Nelson's dad) is the Prelate.

We fellowship with churches who are not a part of W.A.R.

I've never understood the obsession that some have with organizations.

Many churches and organizations have given conferences and conventions higher priority than evangelism and deliverance ministries.  It's wonderful to have district meetings and convocations and such, but the church is not here to gather in buildings and minister to each other...we're here to reach out to the lost.  If we're not doing that, what are we here for?

Oh snap.  Such a small world.  When I lived in DC/MD, I visited Jason Nelson's church, and read their dad's bio.

I do have to say, there's a huge difference between belonging to a "newer" organization and one with the history of an old organization... IMO.

I'm not loyal to any church organization/denomination. It's all about the unadulterated word of God. Denominations are man made anyway.

and in the meantime chew the meat and spit out the bones (which you have to do at ANY church).

Not when the Pastor preaches from the word and doesent add his opinions as though they are facts.

EXACTLY. Couldn't agree with you more.

I agree, but unfortunately there are very VERY few pastors who actually do this. Even pastors who preach "from the word" are prone to interpret it or misuse it.

Even if the pastor was perfect in that aspect, there's always going to be something about the way the organization is run that will cause you to have to decide if it's something you can deal with or whether it's a dealbreaker for you.  I think about it every time I have to deal with issues that are more prevalent in the predominantly black church.  I suppose if I got tired enough, I'd go worship with my caucasian brothers and sisters, but there'd be something inherent in their way of doing things that would still cause me to SMH or miss what I had.

True Loopy, but there are some that just take it too the extreme.

True too Nessa,

I dont really worry about the way the org is ran, because I'm not into all of the church politics. I go to church to praise and worship God, to minister and to get he word, not to care about who the newest bishop or national trustee is or whatever else is goin on. For the most part I go to church, then go home. I cant be bothered with all the drama and politics. So thats probably why you rarely see me here complaining about my church, though that will probably change when I become a MOM. :D

but good point, no matter what church you go to they will all have their share of problems
