Studio setup Question

I have a motif es6, a mpc2000 xl,and a digidesign 002r. Also have cubase sx3 and plenty of VST’s. I want to use the motif as a controller but would also like to use the sounds from the motif along with the VST’s. I also have a MOTU express128 for midi. I would like to sequence with the mpc. Is this possible? If so, what is the proper way to hook everything up? Of course the end result would be having evrything tracked to cubase. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Since you have a 002, I would use Pro Tools instead of Cubase......

yeah I feel you on that. Just Cubase gives me more tracks! plus its more vst friendly. I still use PT8 but its more for editing.

Well Bro, I dont think there is a "Proper" way to hook-up/connect a home based studio... So with that you should connect everything to YOUR comfortability...

But, what "I" would do is this...
Connect the MPC to the Digi 002 rack (stereo L/R) using the first two channels.
Then I would connect motif to the Digi002rack (stereo L/R) to the third and fourth channels.

As far as the midi goes, I would connect the Motif to the Motu128 in the 1st midi channel...(connect both in and out)
Then connect the motif to the Motu128 to the 2nd midi channel (both in and out)

This way you have connected both the Motif and MPC through midi and audio...

I hope I didnt confuse you, if I did, just ask me to clear up what I confused you on...

I think bro. Catron meant to connect the MPC to midi in and out on the MOTU interface.  I agree with that.  It would allow you to use either the Motif or MPC as a controller.  If you sequence externally and send the midi to your VST instruments, you may have some latency issues. Some adjustments to your sound card settings might correct the problem.

Hey guys I appreciate your input. I got a lot of gear that im trying to get to play together. Im able to produce on either platform...(mpc, motif, cubase,pro tools, etc.) I just like different things about each so I wanted to use it all, but in a way that won't stop the creative flow. I'll post some tracks as soon as I can. Maybe I can get some feedback. Thanks again!

Another thing is I have the 8 outs on the MPC so I run those into the 002 and I got a presonus digimax8 that I use for everything else!
