I just responded to a thread I think was deleted a few seconds ago. I am going to put my response here.....The question was about starting for beginners, eating healthy, motivation, etc. I think I included some of the poster's questions in my response.
I am trying to do a better job of monitoring my eating habits. Again, this is partially due to my retirement. I am making a 3rd of what I used to make. Since I am in school full time $1600 a month for th GI bill housing allowance is something I receive...but for 3yrs and as long as I am enrolled in school. My retirement is less than that (minus taxes, allotments). So, I can't spend the way I used to...meaning no more running to the buffets, IHOP, Applebees, etc. I am now shopping more at the dollar store. Eating healthy is cheaper than eating out. I can get romain salad cuts for $1, box of 3EApk popcorn $1, Sack of potatoes $1, bananas $1 for around 6-8EA. Sometimes I will bring my lunch with me to school...make a lunch and eat in Starbux instead of paying for thier "stuff". Their sandwiches are healthy, so sometimes I will treat myself, but I am really trying to budget...(I really have no choice). I need to get back to exercising tho.
To those trying to make that first step, start small. Sometimes I get discoruaged when I think about ALL the weight I have to lose...uuughhh. If you cut down, cut out sodas and some other stuff and mainly focus on eating healthy and not late (I am still working on this), You will start to see the weight come off. IMO...
