If you say you're a Man of God, be one doggonit...venting sorta

So I met this guy about 2 weeks ago...truly tall, brown and handsome :D  He gave me his number, I did likewise...cool.  He calls me, we're talking, good convo going and before I even ask him about his religion, he say's "I am a Man of God, a Christian man" so on and so forth....so you know I'm like  ;D  now, lol.

I let him know from the door where I stood in my faith. I don't play games. I'm serious about my walk with the Lord and I dare not change that...Well he thought that was the best thing and was so tickled by it. Very nice guy :)

Why this dude call me while he's driving, I promise you I felt like I was thrown into a Def Comedy Jam show, lol...this joka started cussin like it wasnt nothin :o I mean the worse ones too :(  I was like Wa Wa WAIT A MINUTE!! WITW!!! He goes "Oh you don't like cursin? I can't cuss in front of you?"  ANNNNNND then he goes "Oh and I'm a bouncer at a STRIP CLUB"

WHYYYYYYYYYY!!!!! I'm madd, lol no seriously, lol. I feel bamboozled :D He wanted to go out this weekend, but that will not be happening :( :-\

My sister says I shouldn't be mean to him, who knows I can be the one to help him ::) yea ok....so tall and handsome too, ugh :'(

1. A lot of people - men and women - consider themselves to be "of God" and "Christian," but don't necessarily live a holy lifestyle.

2. I agree and disagree with your sister. You shouldn't be mean to him, but ummmm... you can help him by praying for him. LOL! I wouldn't waste my time on this one... BTJM.  (<--- will explain that if necessary)

I'm not wasting my time either. I told him, on a spiritual note, we're not compatible. I told him, I'm not perfect,  but I'm striving to live a holy life everyday. I wasn't mean..

I guess I would have been more understanding if he said, I'm a Christian, but I'm working things out in my life...for some reason when I hear "Man of God" I expect more :-\

Yea you right SJ...even though the outer was really REALLY nice LOL, I'm much more concerned about the inner man and what and who God has for me...

He says I'm prejudging him ::)

And you're not judging him. It is perfectly acceptable (IMO) to have preferences about a person's inner "appearance", just as it is to have preferences about a person's outer appearance. Some people like 'em tall and dark, some like 'em short and light... some like 'em holy.  :D :D :D

About a year ago, I was "getting to know" this guy that I went to school with in NY (we reconnected through FB). He's Roman Catholic, and didn't understand why I wasn't trying to go any further with him once I found that out. His lifestyle included moderate partying and drinking with friends, occasional clubbing, video game parties, and a LOTTTTTA rap and hip-hop. I'm not opposed to that stuff, but it just doesn't fit with my lifestyle -- which is pretty much church, church, church, and more church. LOL! It would never work. So why bother?

I said bruh Don't do it for me, do it for yaself :-\ Whew I sure am glad I'm not the old me, my "used to be naive self" would have been a serious sucka n/j (no joke) Stupid all over the forehead :D

Amen, sister. If you gonna claim it, you ought to be living it.  There are way too many definitions for being saved, Men/Women of God, and christian going around.  Da proof is in the puddin.  A person ought to be "livin the life like it's golden"  ;D ;D

LOL!  I had a guy proposition me one time, and when I declined he got all mad and said he knows the Lord, too, and God intends for us to enjoy ourselves, etc.  LOL!!!  I was so tickled at him bein' mad!

But yeah, people profess holiness but many times it doesn't go a lot further.

Maybe you should give him a chance. People do change. Sometimes it just takes the right incentive. And you just might be that incentive....

Before yall go saying, "Why she got to change him??!" LOL. I'm talking about for the good. Like maybe he'll work on his cursing and eventually stop. Maybe she can help him to be more spiritual.

His cursing doesn't necessarily make him da' devil. He could be a great person, with character and moral values. He just may have a bad habbit of cursing.... Habbits can be broken. He said he's willing to work on it. Now if he has other flaws in his personality that you know would be a problem....you may want to call it quits...

I know a few people who live a holy lifestyle (or strive to), but struggle with cussing.

Not one of them would freely use that language in front of someone they just met, let alone a LADY, let alone a LADY who is saved and living a holy lifestyle.

There's a lot to be said about that. It doesn't sound like a habit he's struggling with. It sounds like it's just a part of who he is, and he's quite content with it.

And I can't speak for BW, but if it were me, it wouldn't so much be the cussing, it would be the fact that he's not the person I thought he might have been.  :-\

Yeah but she just met him two weeks ago... How can you say what a person is about in two weeks? LOL I mean at least give it a month. Of coarse if she already knows she don't want to waste the time then that's fine. But is she's not quite sure.....then maybe another couple of weeks??? :-\

BEWARE!!! If she or he is wearing a "I'm a Christian" or an "I'm a Man" or an "I'm a Woman" T-shirt (in other words if the 1st thing outta their mouth is an announcement as to who or what they are) run the other way and charge them double your normal price.

Furthermore, after having been released from the bondage of strip clubbing years ago, Brother man has a long way to go. Let it go.. That's what I'd tell anyone of my 5 daughters.. aged 19-33.... especially if he has to ask.. it would be different if he volunteered an apology.. and then... working in a strip club/man of GOD ... enh enh...

If you stay in touch with him and try to minister to him... it's dicey 'cause.. blessed women need love too... arms length.. with a broom. For a good while.
