I cain't afford 'might', maine.
I'mma need it to be broken down so that it can forever be broke.
PJ Morgan has an organ fingering DVD, I believe. It's how I learned to play the F blues scale (although, I haven't practiced it in a good minute).
I may have to try and find that one.
How much practice do you get in each week?
I say just go to the wood shed like everybody else has done and practice as much as you can. I know its hard to find time , but there is no other way imo. Get a teacher, get DVDs do whatever it takes. It took me years of just messing around on the keys and trying to imitate other guy's riffs to be able to do decent sounding riffs and improvise over chord changes.
If you really want, I can go though my dvd collection and find the best one for you. I think Kevin Connelly's DVD is focused on teaching you how to improvise and come up with your own ideas instead of just copying what he does.
I dont know what else to tell you.
Ok, it isn't a band, but as soon as you have more than 1 instrumentalist, there is much more to explore with.
I would say first envision what you want to hear yourself play. The next step is to try to get yourself to play that.
Listen to bands would indeed help (I barely play in bands, but I find that many chops used by bands benefit my playing alot)
Yeah man, just this past Sunday a guy thats been coming to church hopped on the keys, as our regular musician was out, and we were just groooovin! When you have someone to lay the foundation it frees you up to do all kinds of fills and runs....I wish I recorded us

As for a band setting, each person has the duty to make the other band members sound good by knowing their roles, not doing so much stuff that it takes away from the band and by complimenting each other.
