Hello Drummers, I wandered over here from bass-land...
The only thing worse than a bad bass player is a really good one that tries to use everything he knows in one song! You're right; the #1 responsibility is rhythem and cohesion. The funny thing is (and you probably understand this HammerRock) it's the same either way... whether it's a drummer that won't stay in the pocket or a bass player. I don't know your bassist, but my guess is he thinks he really tight! Is he? Even if he is, everybody needs to understand the concept of teamwork. You can be the baddest musician in the world, but without teamwork you make yourself look stupid.
So to sum it all up, he makes hiself look bad, and the spirit of pride has a hold on a lot of good musicians. Pray that he becomes cooperative, and ask God to remove the pride and boastfulness. Also pray that cat learns how to sow (so he can stitch some pockets on his gear :lol: )
