More Progressions
« on: October 31, 2006, 10:24:14 AM »
I'm just looking for some more progressions to practice that may be found in Gospel / worship music. I've included a few, please add some more based on the examples.

I (Maj7) - ii (Min7) - iii (Min7) - IV (Maj7) - V (Dom7) - vi (Min7) - vii (Min7b5)

1. I - vi - IV
2. IV - V - I
3. I - IV - V
4. ii - V - I
5. vii - iii - vi
6. iii - V - ii
7. V - I - IV
8.
9.
10.
11.
12.
ect.

9. vii -iii - vi - ii - v- i
10. iv - ii - v - iii - ii - v- i

the way your looking at each degree doesn't have to be a 7th either.  Just look at them like.

I (Maj) - ii (Min) - iii (Min) - IV (Maj) - V (Maj) - vi (Min7) - vii (Dim)

now you can add whatever extension you'd like if it fits (IF IT FITS IS the key word).

So now your I could be a Major 9th or whatever you decided.
Somebody put me in the key of E#

Is there a difference if the letter is in uppercase versus lowercase?

(V )- IV - vi - bVII - V -( I )

The part in bold is a progression that serves as a filler before a song starts back at the one.
The duration of this progression, the way I use it, is about 2 bars long in 4/4 time.

If you look in the music hangout room, there are a ton of proggressions that T-Block posted

Uppercase is major, Lower case is minor.

Uppercase is major, Lower case is minor.

To be more specific, uppercase tells you that the 3rd is a major 3rd and lowercase tells you that the 3rd is a minor 3rd.

The chord can be an augmented chord and the roman numeral is still uppercase because the 3rd is a major chord.

The chord can be a diminished chord and the roman numeral is still lowercase because the 3rd is a minor 3rd.

And why the heck is this post in the bass forum? ?/?
