The Motif
XS Series are great for live appilcations. With the addition of the expanded soundbank and 8 sliders, color screen, plug ins the XS is awesome for live applications. The Motif XS and ES series looks a lot cooler on stage than a Fantom serires.
For a home studio I would go for the Fantom G. Mrandrew pretty much summed it up. The Fantom G series are complete when they come out of the box. Everything is there and you still have the option to upgrade. Plus the pads are a great addition for drum programming.
I am a huge fan of the Motifs and S Series from Yamaha. I would purchase a Motif before a Fantom, but for a home studio and live application I have to give it to Roland.
