I'm about to do the same thing.  I've been doing research on the internet.  I've cleared my space out (appox 15x10) and when I get back from my trip I'm going to start framing it.  I found someone to do my drywall/insulation for $400, but the majority of the work i will do myself

CW what are you planning on using for isolating the sound?

For the "practice room" which will have all my intruments/computer I plan on using 2 inch thick foam between the drywall.  For the sound booth, I plan on getting plans from this site http://www.dawbox.com/DAWBOOTH.htm
