Just a Heads Up... Save some $$$
« on: June 18, 2010, 01:53:26 PM »
I went by the Sam Ash store to pick up an Ampeg SVT Micro-VR which is priced just about everywhere for $299.  They didn't have it in stock, so I had to go online. I got it from Sam Ash online for $50 less because I mentioned an in-store deal called Daddy Dough Day.  It's an offer to take an additional $50 off any purchase of $299 or more.  I told the online rep about it, and she honored it without hassle. Like I said...it worked for me!

Thanks for the info. I want the 210AV cab that is usually paired with that head. It also is 299.99 in most places. I may try the coupon on the website as well.

You might want to play through that cabinet first to see what you think.  I didn't like the tone...it was a bit thin.  However I bought the Micro-VR to go with an Ampeg BA410H cabinet I have.  It's a 200 Watt cabinet at 8 ohms, and the Micro-VR puts at 150 Watts at 8 ohms (200 at 4 ohms).  Perfect little head for that cabinet.  I'll post pics later.

Here's the medium sized rig.  Ampeg Micro-VR and BA410H cabinet. It's about 80lbs total and the cabinet has casters.

Actually, I have. In fact I paired it with a GK Backline 600, which is the head I own and pushes 180 watts at 8 ohms. My plans are to use the 210AV as a cab for practice sessions and smaller venues (I currently use a Fender Bassman 100 with a 15" speaker, so I know I can get better tone and more power). I'd rather spend between $200 and $250 than spend $300 though. :)

Yeah dhagler...you were thinking like me... I hear you. I needed a cheap amp to give me about 200watts.
