This is another point where we disagree. I don't like assuming at all, but I am especially reluctant to make assumptions about people's lifestyles. Just because a person frequents a gospel music site doesn't mean they're a Christian. And how can we make such an assumption about lurkers? Nah, I can't say I'm certain "we're all Christians."

I know this is off topic, but T.D Jakes MOM is serious.  I heard him on a clip before and his style and whew is all I can say. 

I completely agree with Bishop Jakes, which is the reason I have held my peace about this subject.  Even in general conversation, I am careful of the words that I speak.  I know the dirt that I have done (seen and unseen).  I know the skeletons in my closet.  I know how I have defiled myself.  I know that if it wasn't for the mercy of the Father and the blood of Jesus, I would have been delt with long time ago.       

Even when I try to make a decision or statement about his situation, I am reminded of the scripture in Galations 6:1 ("If a brother is overtaken in fault, ye who are spiritual restore in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself, lest ye are tempted").

Whether he is proven innocent or guilty, we should pray.  That we are protected from the future persecution of the world.

A little off topic!        After watching the video it reminded me of how I should be everyday. (I used to get mad at people for purposely doing stuff to cause harm and sow seeds of discourse, well, I still do but I make sure that anger last for less than 2 minutes.) Another person's short comings should remind me of my own and I should not judge that person. I simply should pray. Quite simply, im the last person on earth that should be pointing the finger. If anything I should understand a person's struggles even though their struggles seem worst than my own.

I forgot his name.  It may have been Stevie Lawrence, because I know who Myron Butler is.  I never heard Myron Butler play until I listened to the clip that was presented here.  If that was him playing the keys.

I think we keep going in circles about this.  I have not read where anyone bashed Bishop Long or called him out of his name. We all agree, I believe, that we hope he is innocent. The dissenting view is that some believe he is being evasive about his innocence and it raises doubt.

I posted the PSA because I think it is hitting below the belt when people's salvation gets questioned when there is a disagreement. It does not have to be that deep when someone disagrees.

Bottom line for me,  I hope he is is innocent and I am praying for everybody because this is a sad situation.

IRT the current discussion: I don't think anyone on either side bashed or called names whether about Eddie Long or about anyone else. I definitely didn't read anything about anyone questioning someone's salvation, but maybe I missed those posts. *shrug*

(@Redd) If the "questioning people's salvation" concern is in reply to my statement about not everyone being Christian, you missed my point. I wouldn't ever question anybody's salvation and surely not over some nonsense like this. LOL! I said that we shouldn't assume a person is Christian just because they're on a gospel music website. That would be like assuming all students at a Catholic HS are Catholic. I've seen for myself, with my own two eyes, one of the drummers say that he is not really a Christian, he doesn't go to church, he just likes all the information he gets from the Drum Room and he digs gospel music. Plus, we can't account one way or the other for all the lurkers we have here. That was my point. 

Furthermore, in making the "we can't assume that everyone here is Christian" statement, I am merely repeating what many, many, many other members have said, moderators included (even SisterT, I believe), over the few years I've been here.

Now if that post wasn't indirectly addressed to me, then disregard all that and accept my humblest apology for thinking it was.

Uh, no.  Did you read what I said?  Let me reword.  I was trying to say, I hadn't seen anyone bashing or name calling, and besides getting to that extreme, I hadn't even seen anyone voice a negative opinion, like they think he's guilty.
