Frankly, neither one of them is a true point guard, so it's like picking the lesser of two evils if you're only talking about that position.  Gill should play the 2.  Jameer should run the point.
I agree with that but I still don't think that Van Gundy and Gil will get along very well. I mean if he couldn't get along with Vince how will he get along with Gil. I thought that Gil should have went to a team with a less panicky coach. I like Van Gundy but sometimes he's wacky and panicky. *kanyeshrug*

I think Amar'e being the clear-cut leader of a team on the NY stage has done wonders for him.

I think he's a legitamate MVP contender.

The Lakers have Pau and the best supporting cast in the league, the Heat are loaded with stars, the Celtics has 4 hall of famers + Rondo and a solid supporting cast, etc, etc.

Who is more valuable to their team than Amar'e is to the Knicks?

Chris Paul, Dirk & D-Rose.

Rondo & Westbrook have too much help to be as "valuable", but they are really ballin.

Rose and Dirk?   ?/?

No way.  Definitely not Rose.  Not with Noah, Boozer, Gibson, Korver and Deng.  They're one of the most loaded teams in the league.  Dirk has Marion, Caron Butler, Tyson Chandler, Jason Terry and a still-capable Jason Kid.  Again, one of the most loaded teams in the league.

I think Chris Paul is as valuable to his team as Amar'e is to the Knicks.  Not MORE valuable, but as valuable.  I'll give you that one.  I didn't even think of him.

Loaded team or not, somebody's got to be the glue that holds it all together.  Dirk represents that for the Mavs.  I would definitely give him a nod.

what, do you think Van Gundy will be too panicky and Gil will just up and shoot him? lol

Gil is as cool tempered as it gets. He is very much a team player, a person who can get along with whatever leadership and get fans and kids excited about seeing good basketball

I agree.  With the exception of the whole gun thing, Gil was both good with and for the Wizards.  He'll be equally good, if not better for the Magic, in large part because of his relationship with the team's general manager.  He realizes he's been given a great opportunity to get what every great player wants, a ring.

Again my problem is not with Gil it's with the panicky coach, Van Gundy. I believe that he has to allow Gilbert and the rest of those guys to do what makes them special...he can't get scared and start all that screaming and stuff. That could easily turn any player off.

I hope the Magic have sense enough to get Dwight Howard a decent backup. I agreed with getting rid of the other guys but Gortat was invaluable to that team. Cuz you know Dwight is going to get in foul trouble at some point mostly erry night. :-\

Are the Lakers in trouble? They have lost 3 straight including Christmas Day against the Heat (some viewed it as statement game) and against Spurs last night (others viewed it as statement game). Some are beginning to believe that this is an aging team. Are we FINALLY (not a good finally but a finally finally.....lol) beginning to see the decline of Kobe?

Ummm "NO"!! The Lakers are no longer motivated by the regular season. They are going to do just enough to make the playoffs and then they'll show up. Normally this wouldn't be a good thing to do but who in the West is ready to step up and make em pay? Nobody that I see... :-\

Even great teams go through lulls.  If I were a Laker fan, I wouldn't be too worried.

Two words "Fools gold". Until someone beats the champs in a 7-game series, the regular season is fools gold.

So a lot has happened in the NBA since we went through our little transition period:

1. Carmelo goes to Knicks. Knicks have lost to Cavs twice while Denver is 5-1 without him. Wow!

2. Deron Williams gets traded to New Jersey. I kind of didn't understand this trade at first (and still don't) but I've heard the argument of trying to avoid the Carmelo and Lebron mess.

3. Celtics trade Perkins and Robinson to Oklahoma for Green and another player I can't think of. I honestly think Celtics were the favorite before the trade and now you could make a case that Miami could be a favorite. But the Bulls look pretty good as well. This trade was risky and I really didn't understand the logic of that trade.

4. Bobcats trade Wallace to Portland for some player.......

I think that's the major ones.

I have never been more furious with a trade in my life than I was with this one. They said last year that if they had a healthy Perk, they would have won the championship. Ok so why then would you go and trade away the very thing that you said that you were missing last year? Danny Ainge said that they knew they couldn't pay Perk what he wanted so they wanted to get something for him...If I'm the Big 3 I would roll my eyes off of that logic. They are too old to be playing around with their career like that.

DON'T SLEEP ON THE MAVERICKS THIS YEAR!!!
Welcome to LGM TJ!!! The Mavericks can easily beat the Lakers if Dirk get's nasty.  ;)

Idk. Too much ego (the down side of having 3 superstars on the same team even though to me it's more the "Big 2 1/2" instead of "Big 3" because I don't see Bosh on the same level as Lebron and Wade) and plus I think Lebron is a terrible closer. Some say he is the best player and should have the last shot but I disagree.

I just want to say that Memphis Grizzlies look like a dangerous 1st round 7th or 8th seed in the playoffs and could pull a major upset, which may help the Lakers. My gut tells me that the following will be the NBA Finals this year:

Heat vs Spurs

But I could be wrong (I hope I am because I still think Lakers are capable of winning it all but Oklahoma, Dallas and San Antonio will NOT be easy to get by).

My Spurs completely embarrassed me Sunday night. They showed absolutely no enthusiasm and got trampled by Los Angeles of all teams (I can't stand the Lakers). In spite of the fact that we have the best record in the league and are a shoe-in for the #1 seed (and you all laughed when I posted my trademark Spurs logo at the beginning of this thread  :P), our defense needs some serious work. We can score with the best of them, but that doesn't do much good if we can't stop the other team from scoring.

On the other hand, however, Bonner has the PRETTIEST shot in the NBA. His three pointer is truly a marvel to watch. No wonder he's the top three point shooter in the league.
