I didn't think the Grizz would make it out of the first round.  They're making a believer out of me.

This is the best NBA Playoffs in YEARS.

So grio.com did an article on 10 people coaches who they think could be the next Lakers coach. Here's the people they said:

1. Doc Rivers
2. Derek Fisher (I like this one the most)
3. Jerry Sloan
4. Magic Johnson
5. Coach K
6. Larry Brown
7. Brian Shaw
8. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
9. Mark Jackson
10. Jack Nicholson (probably a joke...LOL).

Right now, one candidate that has came up is former Rockets/Kings coach Rick Adelman.

The Lakers love to hire their own, so I wouldn't be surprised if Brian Shaw gets a real shot.  Regarding other current/possible coaching vacancies, I'd also like to see Mark Jackson get a shot.

Mark Jackson would definitely be good! I think who they get as coach depends on how much reconstruction the team goes through. If they keep Gasol and Odom they may stay with triangle (Shaw becomes favorite). If they trade more pieces then I think they'll go another direction.

One trade idea I read was:
Lakers trade Gasol (or Bynum...I think), Odom and Artest to Magic for D Howard and Arenas. I don't want Odom traded AT ALL!!

Again, I want that bench dealt with! When a team scores as many points from the bench as the opposing team we have a problem!

1. Ain't no way Doc gone coartch no Lakers
2. You have got to be kidding me ::) ::) ::) ::)
3. Ok he just retired from the Jazz because of a pre-Madonna why would go to a team full of em. :-\
4. Haven't we already tried Magic and failed ?/?
5. Coach K isn't going to leave Duke...especially with that class he just got in
6. Kobe will do a Latrell(sp?) Spreewell(sp?) on Larry B ;D
7. Brian Shaw may work out but he lacks experience
8. Kareem lacks experience too but he would automatically demand a level of respect that I don't think Brian Shaw has.
9. Mark Jackson isn't the man for this job to me.

I do think that Rick Adelman would fit because of his ability to deal with players like C Webb and Ron Artest. He may not have a championship but all of his teams were gritty and tough.

One name I didn't see on the list was Byron Scott.  He's a former Laker and just a darn good coach, to boot.  If he's still interested in coaching, I'd throw his name in the list.

I doubt he'll leave Cavs since he's kind of committed himself to that team, but he would be a good choice.

One other person:

Kobe Bryant as a player-coach.  :-\ ::) ;D

I'm sorry, I just want to see a player-coach in this league again. We haven't seen one (I don't think) since Avery Johnson.

You're right about that! I always loved to watch Byron play and coach. I think he's gotten some raw deals with his previous jobs but you're right he would be a darn good coach.

Greatest NBA coach of all time! I mean it's hard to win titles without fantastic players/teams. They say Doug Collins coached Bulls with Jordan/Pippin in 89-90 (I think) but didn't win title. Jackson comes in in 1991 and wins the title! Lakers get swept with Kobe and Shaq in 99, Jackson comes in in 2000, they win the title.

Ya know, after watching the Mavs absolutely undress the Lakers in their series, I'm not so sure the Heat can beat them in a 4 game series.

Lebron is fantastic.  Wade is fantastic.  Bosh is solid.  You have some good 3-point shooters.

But Dallas is so DEEP.  Their reserves could start on several teams.  I don't know who can compete with that depth.

I think it's a mixture of both. Neither could win without the other. *vonneshrug*

You're gonna hurt your arm like that.  ::)

I believe questions like these are difficult to answer because one can't change history.  Phil got the chance to coach two of the best (I'll leave that for you to figure out) players in the NBA in the last 20+ years.

Let him coach players with a boatload of potential and see what he does. At the same time, do Mike and Kobe earn their rings without Phil?

A tough call with no correct answer. *kanyeshrug*

It's hard for me to say that he's THE greatest, but I think it's safe to say that he's at least ONE of the greatest.

Alright, let me analyze....LOL!

Dallas/Heat Finals: You make a very interesting point! Right now, Miami is my pick to win it all. However, Dallas with the shooters showed themselves as a threat. I need to see how Dallas plays in the Western Conference Finals and how Heat play remainder of this series against Celtics. To me, if they beat Celtics they are heading to Finals because I don't see them losing to Bulls or Hawks.

At the end of the day, I still view OKC the new favorite to make it to the finals. I always felt like they were the biggest threat to the Lakers in the West.

I will be UTTERLY shocked if Memphis makes it to the Finals....SMH!
