Remember, the Hornets traded away Kobe Bryant for Vlade Divac.   :-\

Yeah, but were the Hornets in championship contention during that time?

No they weren't.  Do you think that makes the Perkins-for-Green trade worse than the Kobe-for-Divac trade?  If so I STRONGLY disagree.

Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest players of All Time.  He could've lifted that franchise the same way Lebron lifted the Cavs...and they traded him for an over-the-hill Divac.   :-\

I get what you're saying but I do think Perkins trade was worse. But you do have good case.

How?  I know Perkins was an essential part to their run, but how would he have help them beat Miami?

Another trade that was worse than that...Tractor Traylor (R.I.P.) for Dirk Nowitzki and Pat Garrity.

Inside presence.

However, he isn't a threat offensively...the same inside presence could've came from KG and Krystic.  However, I think the trade was dumb, but it might not be the worse trade of the season.  The Magic made some ill advised moves this season as well

Perkins is a good player.  Would he have been the difference between the Celts winning one game in the series and them winning FOUR games in the series?

He ain't THAT good.   :-\

Yo fellas...fellas...fellas * ;D *
It's not just the fact that they traded Kendrick Perkins, look at the entire trade and you'll see that they traded away all of their size. I defy anyone to tell me that the before roster couldn't have won it all this year.

Semih Erden and Luke Harangody would have clogged that lane a whole lot better than Kristic and whoever else they brought in. ::) ::) ::) ::)

All I can say is, the Celtics were a Kendrick Perkins away from winning it all last year. #thatisall

I have a feeling that you guys are giving Perkins way too much credit.  Sure, he's a presence, defensively.  But, he wasn't exactly a force.  In addition, he was foul-prone, so it wasn't like he was going to give you 40 minutes a game anyway.

Yea, nobody's saying he wasn't a good player.  He just wasn't good enough to turn a 1-4 lose into a series win.

The Celtics would've lost ANYway.

You simply can't compare that to the Kobe for Vlade trade.  You can't.   :-\

Nobody's saying Perk is the only factor here. Look at the before roster and the after and count how many other people are missing besides Perk. That was a Championship team before they screwed it up. But hey we'll jess agree to disagree  ;)

Personally Boston was my favorite before trade. You all may be right about athleticism. Ill say this: in my opinion if CHI or OKC beat Heat it will be because of defense and stopping DWade and LBJ penetration.

I dunno.  Seems to me, they got rid of bums to get more bums, save for Green.  I have a feeling that Green is going to be a great piece of the puzzle, going forward.

And I'm not necessarily saying that Perkins is all that and a bag of chips but I am one of those (yes I am) that believes if Perkins had played Game 7 last year, Celtics would have won it all. I also believe that if Heat lose to CHI or OKC in a series that the "defense wins championship" philosophy plays a huge part.

I just read that we're having an NBA Finals that doesn’t include Shaquille O’Neal, Tim Duncan or Kobe Bryant for the first time since the 1998-89 season.
