NRC: got most of the bathtub fixed got a small leak where the drain connects to the tub but i don't want to mess with it until the cement has more time to cure ... had to get the trip lever to work right

AND!!! i also fixed the drain for my washing machine! i would post pictures but i don't think anyone would appreciate it as much as me! LOL

I just fixed mine about a month ago.  If you can take picture of it(the drain portion), maybe we can offer some suggestions?  It should be an easy fix.

Hmmm, okay.  I was thinking I'd have to pay $$$ for a plumber to come out.  But I'll post it and see what you guys have to say.

Nessa, try one of those snake things. They sell them at Home Depot, and they're very inexpensive. I'll see if I can find a pic of one.

And AFTER you get the problem resolved (whether it's by a plumber, snake or whatever), get a hair trap for your drain. I bought one from Walmart for $1.99 and I haven't had a clog since. I never realized that my hair sheds enough in the shower to build up in the drain, but it does. I used to get clogs at least once every 3 months or so (a full bottle of Drano usually worked for me), but I haven't had one since I bought that hair trap.

I think you're right.  Thank you.  The only problem is, my drain plug thing is like built into the drain, I don't know how to get it out to even snake the drain once I buy the snake.  I don't know why anyone would lock that thing into the tub drain like that.  Maybe I can find a pic online to explain what I mean, but in the meantime, it's basically one of those that you pull up and turn like a half a turn and it stays up, and then you turn it the other way and it goes down for filling up the bathtub.

Cool, thanks!  There's one  up the street, I'll go check it out at lunch.  This will be such a relief to get cleared up.  It makes cleaning the tub an everyday perpetual nightmare.

From the pictures, I'm guessing that the whole thing including the outer ring screws out?  I was just trying to get that inner part to come out.  I'll have to take a look at it tonight when I get home.  I don't know what I would use to get that outer ring up to where I could even grasp it on the sides to turn it.  It's like sunken down into the drain.
