I always get a window seat. Between the view and the conversations with God, I love flying.
If you plan your trip, you're quite unlikely to get stuck in a middle seat. That usually only happens if you fail to book early, fail to select a seat, miss your flight, change your flight or go standby. On a typical, planned trip, you won't get stuck in the middle.
Last year, because I just HAD to layover in ATL, I was on a 767 airbus... I was in the middle section in the middle seat. Of the 300 people on the plane, I am sure I was THEEEE most uncomfortable... LOL...
Besides planning ahead, what other advice would you offer? As far as things you should or should not do when it comes to flying.
I follow some personal practices...
As LaRue said, plan ahead... Pick a good seat. I prefer on the wing, and facing the rear of the plane, I prefer to sit on the left at the window.
Get plenty of rest the day/night before
Arrive at the airport at least an hour and a half before boarding (boarding is typically 30 minutes before departure)
Pack a light snack
Dress for the plane. The cabin temperature is usually kind of on the cool side
Bring a source of entertainment (laptop (there's wifi on most flights now), MP3 player, good book, DVD player, etc.)
Research you destination airport so you know where the rental car places are, baggage claim, etc.
ENJOY YOUR TRIP!
