My next purchase is either an Epi Semi-hollow or Fender Deluxe Player's Strat.

Now those are polar opposites.  Check out the Epi ES-339.  They've gotten great reviews.  BTW, what kind of Strat do you currently own?

I got a story to tell...

So I ordered the guitar that I wanted (Fender American Special Stratocaster HSS - Black) from American Musical Supply on Thursday. I set up the 8 payment plan with the credit department and they told me everything was good.  I was expecting the guitar to be in my hands around Thursday/Friday of next week.

So in my eager anticipation, I was looking for updates for my status order about every other hour online.  When I didn't see any update by 6pm on Thursday (The ad said that it would ship same day  :-\) I called the customer service desk.  They told me that it was a hold up by the credit department.  I was thinking "why is that? They said I was good...I know I'm good...what's the deal?  ?/?"  The Customer Service Rep told me to call back friday.  Aight...cool.

Friday comes and I call the Credit Department.  They told me that they needed to verify my bank info.  I'm thinking "okay that's fine".  I hang up and wait 2 hours.

I call again...they tell me "We are still waiting to verify your bank info.  Ummm...what's your bank's phone number?"  ?/? ?/?...wut? So I tell them the number and I ask "How long does it take to verify?" they told me about 30 minutes.  I'm thinking "Okay...I'll wait 2 hours and if I don't see an update then i'm calling back."

Two hours later, no update.  Now i'm annoyed.  I call back and ask what's the deal.  They say that they are waiting to verify.  I told them "If I knew I had to cattle-prong y'all along for my order I could of taken my business elsewhere.  The customer shouldn't have to follow up with you guys!"  The Sales Rep said "Sir i'm sorry for your hassle...let me take 10% off your order..."  I stop him and say "I would like the discount and next day delivery also..."  They said "Yes sir...that also..."

I stayed on the line while they verified everything.  They sent me an email showing that my guitar shipped and I thanked them for rectifying the issue.

So I wake up today around 11 am (sleeping in lol) and the FedEx guy has my guitar for me!  I tuned it up and played it...plays like a dream and it sounds good too!  Always wanted a humbucker in the bridge  ;D

I'm playing it this Sunday!  I know they are gonna tell me i'm too loud LOL! I'mma hafta get the strings changed (9's to 10's) and a quick setup and I should be good to go!

Whew! I thought you were about to give a bad report about the site I suggested!!! I'm glad it worked out for you and I'm feeling you on that "every hour shipping check"!  ;D

As soon as my cabinet is paid off, I'm in line for that new start too. Give us an update on your "field test" this Sunday too.

Congrats, Gibby.  Did you get the $100 Fender rebate too?

Yes that was factored in...with my discount it came to less than $750!

And the field test at service went well!  What a difference new frets and pickups make!  8)

The Texas Specials are great. I had them in the Lone Star I used to have and I actually hated them at first.  But once I got them set at the right height, I was truly pleased with the way they sounded.  When set to Fender's recommended specs, they sounded nasty (like gross),a but once I backed them down, I thought to myself that this is what heaven sounds like.  I miss that guitar real bad though.  There is an MIM version which I'm sure is a good guitar but he original MIA Lone Stars/Fat Strat Texas Specials were amazing.

Yeah man I still love my old MIM strat...but it needs some TLC (fret job, set-up).  My new guitar will take some getting used to, but I do notice a few things that are nice:

The tone knobs helps my sound out alot.  I was playing in service and I thought "the highs need to be taken off just a tad..." I rolled the tone knob back just a little bit and it sounded amazing.  My old MIM strat doesn't do that as well as my new MIA strat.

I'm quite pleased with it to say the least...

That's the Grease Bucket tone circuit.  It's designed to roll off highs without getting muddy....it's a feature you wont even find on most Strats regardless of country of origin.

YO GIBBY !!! THIS IS (PRESHAMOORE) ON UTUBE !!! SUP WITH YA MANE ? Anyway...i had some custom work done on my Epiphone/Gibson Les Paul "black beauty" Custom LOL@all the accolades. I had Seymore Duncan, Hot Rodded humbuckers, SH2 jazz in neck and JB SH4 in the bridge, both volume pots where switched out with 500k push/pull pots and Orange Drop tone capacitors. All the work plus materials was les than $400. Words cant explain the tonal varitions, sustain and raw power i now have at my disposal. Imagine having a strat sound and the less paul sound (originally) in one axe ! :)
