Maybe it is something like the different uses of "rock" and "pop" in the US and UK but I don't see Pillar as CCM, even if their music is contemporary and Christian but rather Christian Rock.

While CCM is (or was supposed to be) an all-inclusive term, some genres have been more on the fringe.  Such is the case with Christian hard rock and metal.  They don't really fit the mold of "mainstream" CCM.

For those who may be interested; singer-songwriter Bebo Norman will retire from everything music at the end of 2013.  I'm not that familiar with his works, but he has been in the industry for quite some time.

Here is the latest form Matthew West:

Hello My Name Is....

Some people dismiss West as being a mediocre artist at best.  I'm not really a fan of his, but I think his music is alright.

Here's some sad news to pass along.  Chase Lovelace, who has filled the drummer's chair for Pilar (2008 - 2009) and Super Chick (2009 - 2012), has died after battling a rare form of cancer.

RIP Chase

Wow....when you see a young man like that just get taken out of here, you are once again reminded of how temporary this life is.  Prayers and condolences to his family, friends, and band mates.

I had to break out the Pledge to get the dust off this thread, but here's a new song that's become a favorite of mine.  From The Afters - "Every Good Thing"

This is a new band (to me), but I've heard this song a few times on our local "family-friendly" format station.  Seems like they're tryin' to make it a lil' funky.

Steven Curtis has always been one of my favorites. It's something about his lyrics on a  lot of his songs that really resonate with me.

I've always been a fan of CCM, but more so in the 90's when CCM was more rhythmic and diverse. It seems now that while the lyrics are more worshipful, the styles have become more guitar driven and ultimately less diverse. I appreciate artists like Mandisa (who would thrive in 90's CCM) and TobyMac who are keeping diversity alive in CCM

I was a big 4Him fan and I have a lot of favorites from them. Mark Shultz had one of the most heart wrenching songs in "He's My Son".
