VERDICT ON IN EAR MONITORING

HI
MY CHURCH HAS JUST INSTALLED A NEW HEADPHONE MONITORING SYSTEM, RATHER THAN MONITOR WEDGES.

IT NOW FEELS DIFFERENT, WHAT SORT OF VOLUME LEVELS WOULD YOU GUYS HAVE THE OVER BAND AT.

VERDICT ON IN EAR MONITORING

Dood i've been playin in ear for a few years now it's the most awsome switch I've ever made. I tried to play a show with a wedge a couple of weeks ago and in the middle of sound check i went straight to the bus and got my ear buds (SHURE E2's). Take it from me there is no other way to go.

When I am on tour, I use in ear monitors and sometimes a wedge. It all depends on how close I am to the rest of the band on the stage. The type of venue has a lot to do with my decision too. If I am playing outdoors and with a click, I usually use in ears. If no click is playing, I use a wedge. If I am playing on a small stage in a closed in spot, I would have to check the acoustic sound levels to decide. Why? Because I do not want to overkill. If the spot is tight and I can hear everybody, I only send the click through the in ears. Outside I need to hear everything, so I have everything mixed in.

I love my SHURE E1's. I don't use too much in our worship service as the acoustics of the stage lends itself to a good wedge mix on stage. I do
use them when we play along to sequences just to make sure
I'm dead on target. I must say that a good sound engineer is absolutely necessary to have a good experience with the in ears.
