Where (online or to a store) could i find a 12''x6 or7 or 13'' x 6 or7 or 14''x7 snare for a reasonable price. Tryin not to spend more than $200 at this level of play that i am at.
Please help cause i really don't like playing on piccolos anymore. I mean I have other snares but not what what im looking for. Help

If you're looking to shop online, I suggest you go with www.music123.com. They're a lot more reasonable than musiciansfriend.com. And here's a little secret, check out instrumentexchange.com for some used snares. This site is a hidden treasure to me.

Finding the right drums.

Hey, I'm glad someone brought this subject up. I'm looking for a beginner set of drums for my 10 year old nephew. Any ideas of what & where I should look for and what price range I should expect. Now, he's truly a beginner.  It would be good however if he could grow a bit with the set.

PS. Also, any ideas on how I can sound proof his room would be appreciated as well. Between the piano and the keyboard, I'm sure we're killing the neighbors.

Man you crazy!!! (No offense) But Music123 pearl 3x13 piccolo snare is $119.00 where on musicians friend it is $99.00. Or are you saying music 123 is more reasonable by the shipping and handling prices.

Maybe I said it wrong, but, you're right musiciansfriend.com does have some good deals. I've just been able to find some equipment a bit cheaper with music123.com as appose to musiciansfriend.com. I guess what would be best for anyone is to do a lot of research before you decide to buy from the first retailer you come across. I feel you lilben, I researched prices for the flying dragon pedal and discovered that musiciansfriend had the cheapest price ($99), so I guess when it comes to certain type of equipment one is better than the other on both sides.

How much do you charge to build a snare? Do you build 5x10 inch snares? Do you but the wires or strings on the bottom of the snare? And do you put an head on it or do I have to go out and by the head and wires?

I want a snare with a very tight pop now. I am very serious about this now. I want it to look similar to the 5x10 inch yamaha stage custom natural.

I normally do not shop inline but I just recently found out what I was missing. I have the 13x6.5 in. Yamaha Musashi Snare I got it at Guitar Center, it is so lovely I brought two, the second one I purchased was from massmusic.net this site is awesome. I paid $230 at Guitar Center and Mass Music only charged me $210 I paid that with shipping rates.

I know this is not a cymbal thread but, Massmusic also only charged me $330 for the following cymbals:

16' HHX Ozone
16' HHX Evolution
15' AAX Dark Crash

I have yet to find a better deal.
