Pastor Steven Furtic
« on: September 16, 2015, 01:57:50 PM »
Another case of Mega-Church Inc. or is what's going on with Elevation Church and its pastor something that we as Christians should legitimately be concerned about?

Big House; Secretive Finances

I don't know; maybe it's none of our business, but there seems to be something questionable at best when you have pastors living high on the hog and still get tax-exemption on top of that.  Not a bad business I'd say.

He does have a legitimate business income through book sales, but transparency is the best. This is the reason some pastors dont take a salary so their congregations wont look at them funny.

I wonder what kind of house Rick Warren lives in (he is among the salary-less)

I know, but I've only recently discovered pastor Furtic.  The thing is, that just because something is legit or legal from a business point of view doesn't necessarily mean it's right in God's eyes.  Now I can not judge what is in this man's heart, but this one point just doesn't seem right.  Like he's working the system for his benefit.  From what I understand, Elevation Church buys his books in bulk (which helps to bump up the sales numbers) AND he gets royalties from the sale of his book to the church he pastors.  It may in fact be perfectly legal, but there seems to be a bit of a conflict of interest to me.  Oh, and not the mention that he also gets a housing allowance.

Yes, his church buys large quantities of his book.  Why is that a problem?  Do you think the Potter's House don't gobble up Jakes' books when he releases them?  How is that a conflict of interests?

I haven't recently discovered Pastor Furtick.  I've been following him for some time and I enjoy him immensely.

The local news stations in his area went full-on smear campaign and it was really aggressive and nasty.

Let's not spend too much time discussing a 2yr old article.
