Display midi information as part of video lessons
« on: October 31, 2015, 05:10:38 AM »
Hi

Can anyone advise me on how I can get midi notes to display as part of my video lessons? Im running cubase 7 EL on a windows 8 OS and have the midi keys from Gospelmusicians.com.

Thanks in advance

I  haven't done it, but my guess on how to achieve it is

1. Record your video as normal (overhead shot) and record your midi at the same time(keep sequencer running during filming)
2. Film midi sequence running on midi keys
3. Merge/Sync both videos together.

What video editor do you use for the merging/synchronisation?

any video editor that has multiple tracks and has the processing power to carry the length of your video in memory without crashing like Premiere or Final Cut or lite versions of either

I've used premiere and windows movie maker. Never used final cut, but heard its more than capable too.

Thanks Casioman. I'll try that.

PianoClubhouse-are you able to layer two video tracks in windows movie maker? I've tried but it only allows for linear additions, which in this case is useless. I'll check out Final cut. I wanted to get Pinnacle but its too exspensive

I am not sure how a video would look from trying this because I have not tried it yet but may do it. Just line up all of what you are trying to do on one monitor and do screen capture.  :) I have a 1080p display but I'm not as in-depth with how the video is recorded.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.
