My piano sounds better though. Now I'm taking a piano class on campus, we're in a sweet piano lab. Nice little 3 1/2 floppy drives. Beautiful sound.... ahhh... To bad I'm just a beginner.

Wonder how much those things cost.

What's a step up from the Casio CTK 451 type keyboard to a better sound, and recordability that won't leave my family on bread and water?

I started out playing xylophone for years......It wasn't until I was 19 1/2 when I got my first keyboard it was a casio (I hated that thing). I moved from that straight to my hammond xk-3.....

my first keyboard....

Casio VL-TONE   in 1980 got it for Christmas

Casio SK-1  1986

I also had 2 sweet Casio boards with midi in 1988/89.  I would midi them together and jam. One had awsome strings and brass ensemble sounds and had a pitch bender.  The other had sound effects like the ocean, traffic, running water, applause, and stuff like that.

For time reference I know that Salt & Pepa and Luke Skywalker was big at that time....  and I aint no nothin bout church then so don't make fun.

Mine was a Roland JV 30. No internal speakers, but good effects and sound and yes . . . I do still have it.   GOD has blessed me with a wonderful 88 key Yamaha, but I still have the old Roland in my bedroom.

I originally had a Casio WK-1800, which I still use alot. The sounds on it are pretty decent, as those who own Casio WK series know.

Casio PT-1

29 keys of fury and an awesome 2-note polyphony.

Kadman, you brought back some memories with the SK-1.  I was in the 7th grade when that one came out.

My first professional board was a Korg DW-8000.  It was about as heavy as a volkswagon.

My first keyboard was Roland D50.  I still have it to. Don't use it
much since you can only play one sound at a time.  This is not
good for midi.  That was not my first piano though.

This is the first keyboard I ever owned. I've had it for about two years now. It's a Korg N1 synthesizer. I was excited to have full size, weighted keys,  keyboard as my first board.

Your stereo's sound was that bad? 8O

We must be around the same age

I used to use the make your own sound feature.  You just punch in a bunch or random numbers to see what cool sound it made.
