Help with "I Just Want to Praise You"
« on: October 26, 2003, 09:25:07 PM »
There is a posting of the song "I Just Want to Praise You" in the key of C.  Could someone help me with putting the notes for the SAT for each of the words of the song?  Thanks in advance.

It's in unison throughout, until it modulates to Ab and the choir repeats "blessing and glory...", they break up into parts there. I'll see what I can do a bit later if no one else has helped you, but in the meantime, listen to the recording (buy the album, download it, or request it from the radio), and when it gets to that part, take it one step at a time by listening to one section's note at a time, match the note you hear to your instrument then move to the next section.

Here's the SAT for "Just Want To Praise You" in Ab, the key on the recording where they break into SAT...

                    S              A              T

Bles:                Eb            C              Ab         (Ab)

sing:                 F              Db            Bb         (Bbm)

and:                          Ab           Eb            C           (Ab)

glo:                           Ab           Eb            C           (Ab)

ry:                             Ab           Eb            C           (Ab)

and:                          Ab           Eb            C           (Ab)

honor:                        C             Ab            Eb         (Ab)

they:                          C             Ab            Eb         (Ab)

all:                            C             Ab            Eb         (Ab)

be:                            C             Ab            Eb         (Ab)

long:                          C             Ab            Eb         (Ab)

to:                            Ab           Eb            C           (Ab)

yo:                           Ab           Eb            C           (Ab)

ou:                           Fb             Db            Bb         (Bbdim)

then when they end it by going into "thank you Jesus..." it's back in unison. But the melody of the song that's sung in unison is the alto's part.
