« Reply #20 on: August 05, 2005, 11:15:23 AM »
I believe there most be a name for this scale already out there. And reason I believe there is one because it's kind of a mode based on the A harmonic minor scale,
A harmonic minor: A B C D E F G# A
Mystery C scale: C D E F G# A D C
 :?:  8O  :?
Somebody out there got to know the true name of this scale.

Wrong,  8O  I was just throwing that out there for you. The C Augmented scale is actually
C D# E G Ab B

C D E F G# A C is just the C major scale with a #5.
Now here is one for you. I'll give you a hint it is a very common one used but because of the key I have written it in will throw alot of key players that don't know all of their scales.... have fun...

B D E F Gb A B  = what scale?

God Bless,
jayzee

Technically, it's the pentatonic minor plus "blue" note, which is a fancy way of saying the blues scale.

to the last poster, what U are reffering to is a C lydian, that is true, The C Lydian scale =

C=1 D=2 E=3 F#=4 G=5 A=6 B=7

You can find any of the most common scales here...

God Bless You ,
jayzee

BUT NOT THE SCALE THAT THE POSTER GAVE WHICH IS( C D E F G# A B C) THIS SCALE THAT THE POSTER IS ASKING ABOUT IS NOT A C LYDIAN!

It is quite obvious that you did not read all of the replies to the first post that will lead you to hear. That would really help you out : )

God Bless You,

I don't think that it is a C harmonic minor.  A C harmonic minor would have an Eb in it?

It's a C melodic minor ascending or a C minor Jazz scale depending on who you ask.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize what I had written.  For some reason I was thinking C harmonic minor.  You are right.

I gotta go with SupremeSaltine on this one.  It's an A hamonic minor scale, starting and ending on C.
Take:  C D E F G# A B C    Change to:  A B C D E F G# A    There you have it!!!

The major scale is derived from the W-W-H-W-W-W-H formula.  Example:  A B C# D E F# G# A
The minor scale lowers the 3rd, 6th, and 7th scale degrees of the major scale.  Example:  A B C D E F G A
The harmonic minor scale has the raised 7th degree of the minor scale.  Example:  A B C D E F G# A
The melodic minor ascending scale has the raise 6th and 7th degrees of the minor scale.  Example:  A B C D E F# G# A
The melodic minor descending scale lowers the raised 6th and 7th degrees from the ascending scale.  Example:  A G F E D C B A

Everybody understand the major and minor scales?  I hope so!!!
