I have only a 4 string but should be the same concept correct?  Man, I keep hanging around here I am going to be come a bass player yet...

Bass Fool....

PS> What type guitar is that? Man it has a wicked sound to it....Also, what type pickups etc to you have...?

Thanks Lady, Bass and b3 and err body else......it's a ken smith and it has the smith's custom bass humbucking pickups on them... i also use a david eden amp head and david eden speakers..for effects i use my boss-gtb-6b bass effect processor..

Bass, yes its the same concept as if you were using a 4 string bass.  with six strings you get the advantage of range thats all.....

Alright... now that I looked at all of them, I see you approach.  We're basically doing the same thing but your technique is much cleaner and better.

Also, you are using that pinkie as a bar across the notes, basically using your left hand like a door on it's hing.  Not lifting it off the fret board but swinging it open.

Your right hand or thump I though you were hammering and catching the string on the way up but that extra note is coming from the hammer on; on your left hand.

I have no idea on the triplet other than start with you thum underneath the string, pull and let the hand fall naturally.  That's how I do anyway...

...ideas on how to move around the fret board... with this style of slap...

good eye  Spirit....the one thing that sounds so simple is the hardest thing to do (practice).  that last practice exercise is what did it for me.  it got a metronome and it set it real slow and did that exercise for days until it became so natural for me.  just like walking one foot in front of the other, its a natural thing.  so doing those simple exercies will put it in your muscle memory and it will never go away once u got it.

going up and down the neck with the slap:  i usually stay in one position unless i want to tweek it up to a higher octave and having a six string i have the vertical range and dont really need to go horizontal that much unless i wanna impress folks by moving all over the neck. so it depends on what ya working with...my next bass i'm getting is a 4 string because i feel i can do more funk and slap with it than a six....but again its all preferance.

later on tonight i'll post the triplelet pluck....when i was taught that it was so hard for me to get it because your plucking 3 strings right after each other....after i got it in my muscle memory it seems so simple now.

THIS IS SLOPPY BUT NONE LESS, I USE THIS TO SHOW THE DRUMMERS THAT THE BASS IS STILL A RYTHM INSTRUMENT.

IT'S SLOPPY ...WHAT CAN I SAY IT'S 12:19 A.M.

Thanks man,

your slap looks really clean.  I will definately be working on it.  I look forward to checking out how you did that triplet.

Since we're studying slap technique, here's a little groove using some of
my slap style.  Muted hammer ons make up a lot of it.  With some percussive popping.  Hope you enjoy:)
