Yea I do mostly just one song, called Trading My Sarrows. I start everything off and I solo all the way through it.

Yes! a few times. I played at a Church in Newbern, NC and the Pastor call me for a bass solo.  If you ever listened to Louis Johnson of
the Brother Johnsons, I did his Stomp solo from his live version with Quincy Jones. I do alot of slapping, but I like the old style of slap.
The style people do now has no timimg or rhythm. I just old.

MikeGee...we play that song too.  It's one of my favorites.  I do some improvising but I don't really solo on it.

I'm still working on my solo skillz.  There is a lot of room for me to solo but I'm not quite there yet.

I have no idea how to create a solo, unless I'm presented with something to play, I can play just about anything that is presented to me. The bunch of things that I create or rather simple but tasteful............

I love that song. Although it's a little challenging to play the chords on a fretless. :D

I understand it can be a lil difficult but I was determined to get. Now there isn't to much I can do on fretted that I can't do on a fret-less.
yea I can slap my fret-less.

Yes but only when it is time for it. Im sure everyone knows this but it must be said when soloing in church you have to be careful of a few things but most importantly the key thing is sensitivitey to the spirit of God. The thing is you can kill a solo and completely distract people from the move of God around you. So lets be cautious
that we never put our sosloing out of place or in the wrong time. Thast way we enhance the move of God rather than hender it. God Bless

Well ... usually our praise team leader breaks down parts ...  he'll say ... let me get that bass only or guitar, etc.  ... other times he'll say (while percussion is playing or just the congregation is singing) ... bring back that bass

It's kinda like Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler...

You gotta know when to hold them
Know when to fold them
Know when to walk away
And know when to run

I did a "Call and Response" with my Pastor during a "Call To Discipleship".  It was quite unexpected and
the selection was "Just Come".  It felt like it was supposed to happen.
From His gifts comes my praise.
