Cool. There are several sources out there to help you - but first, I'd recommend the following:
HAND MAINTENANCE
*Get ready to develop the (ouch!) callouses of your finger tips.
*Do hand, wrist and finger exercises w/a rubber ball or a GRIPMASTER (a sporting good store will have these)
MUSIC MAINTENANCE QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER
*Do you want to play lead or rhythmn?
*Can you keep "the basic beat" (3/4? 4/4?)
*Do you listen to ALOT of guitar playing?
*Do you know what TABLATURE is?
*Do you have earphones so you can practice w/out wakin the neighbors?
START OFF SIGGESTIONS
*Start w/ E, A, D, C, G chords (E, A, D go together) (C, G, D go together)
*Listen to alot of guitar playing and don't be afraid to make mistakes (trust me on this one).
Keep it real and good luck!
