I Need Shouting Church Guitar Tabs.
« on: January 07, 2005, 10:43:49 PM »
I just started playing church guitar music and I am the lead guitarist at my new church.  All I know are the common chords.

Could someone please assist me to obtain Shouting Guitar Tabs for the Saints of God?

May God Bless You. Thanks!

i had the same problem- personally i play black gospel music so i hope thats what you are looking for--
if you are familiar with theory terms or jazz progressions , you should know that most shout tunes are based off of a 1 4 5 progression then into 1 6 2 5.  what this means if you are not familiar is say you are in A major;  A is 1 D is 4 and E is 5.  this is generally where verses go.  the remaining 1 6 2 5 or    A 1, g sharp 6, B 2, E 5,  is generally where the song turns around.
this i think will help you.  When i was growing up playing all i heard was 12 bar blues and shout tunes and jazz blues songs reall yopened up my eyes to see that there were lots of directions blues could go.   try listening to some wes montgomery blues stuff or ray charles to get a feel of 1625 blues progressions.
hope this helps
take care
zach

Thanks for the advice.  I did not know about the 1 6 2 5 progression, but now I know.  It actually sounds like shouting music.  I will keep practicing.

Thank you.

with tab the line represent the strings from low e at the bottom and high e as the top line.
then the numbers are the frets to play on each string.
if on number is on top of another number then play those notes together!

it is meant to be looked at like you are looking down at the neck on the guitar as you are playing.

I am having a question about your awnser, dicsipel. if i may.... I'm also new in real thing, i mean, I used to sing in our church but practice very hard to play the guitar as well. Already played for myself, but now I'm getting serieus. By the way, I live in Holland, maybe that's why I don't understand the tip about the chordline? I do understand how to look at the lines, it's the numbers I don't get.
Do I make any sense? :?
