My church here in Reno sings:

Oh the Blood of Jesus (3 times)
AND WE MUST NOT SUFFER LONG

Okay I really think that this phenomenon, only occurs at COGIC churches in Reno (it's like a malfunction in the song lyric continuum or something), but isn't it IT WASHES WHITE AS SNOW?  Has anyone outside of Reno ever heard that alternate ending before?  Me and another organist who came out of the Baptist church (apparently untainted by this mistaken lyric epidemic) tried to start a campaign to get them to sing the right lyrics, but to no avail.  Everybody looks at us like we're dumb.

      When I was growing up, the words were "and it must not suffer loss!" Meaning the blood will never lose it's power! I've heard it sung that way and with "it washes white as snow", ..... but WE MUST NOT SUFFER LONG?!! - I'm sorry but that is TOOOOO funny!   ROTFLMBO!!!!

I think "I'm comin' up on the rough side of the mountain" just means that we've chosen to walk the Christian walk instead of taking the easy route and walking with this world. I could be wrong though.

Also there is another verse that says:

Jesus gave His life and He's coming back again

and maybe that's where the "And we must not suffer long" is supposed to go. Just givin' y'all the benefit of the doubt!

it... must.... not..... suffer....  See now that makes sense!  I don't know what they're doing out here!!  LOL.  They are really singing it like that, every communion Sunday.  Now it's really gonna bug me!  I gotta call DeSean (the baptist guy) and tell him!!

In the morning when I rise?  Maybe it's because I'm COGIC, but I totally get that one.

I went to a COGIC church for 8 years and thats all they used to say was in the morning when I rise..I understood it but most people didnt and wanted to know what came after that.

There is a greeting song called "The Jesus In me Loves the Jesus in You."

I can get with it until it gets to the part where it says:

"You're easy, you're easy, you're easy . . .
You're easy to love."

Sorry, but some people are very difficult to love.   At that point, I usually just trail off or start shaking their hand or something.

Like Bro Peach, I can't sing "Jesus Will Never Say No." I know that, like anyone who really loves you, if you ask for the wrong thing Jesus will say no.

In the morning (when I rise)
In the morning (when I rise)
In the morning (when I rise)
I've got to see Jesus when I rise!

Huh?  For real?  So, you see the face of Jesus every morning and after seeing His face you chose to stay here on Earth and not go with Him!  For real?  You are one of the few people who could stand to see His face and still live HERE?  What a contradiction!

AND NOW LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE CLASSIC NO-SENSE SONG OF THE CENTURY:

Vanessa Bell Armstrong's "The Oil of God" on the "Desire of My Heart" CD.  Boy oh boy oh boy!

The song is entitled "The Oil of God", referring to the anointing!  BUT my girl (in her ad lib) keeps saying that we need to recognize "the power that's in that bottle" (referring to olive oil)!

Every time I put that CD in I try honestly to skip that one, but when I need a good laugh I go right to it.  I can't believe that an entire production team (and the song's writer) let her put that out there like that!  Extreme Psycho Babble 101!

OR TRY THIS ONE. . .

On the chorus part of "Order My Steps", IF YOU order my steps, I'll praise Your name!?  WOW!  So, now we make idle threats and give God conditional statements telling him that will do something for Him IF He does a specific thing for us?  When I taught it to the choir, I eliminated that and said PLEASE order my steps....I'll praise Your name!  It still didn't make me like tha song any more but since they were DYING to sing it....I had to readjust it to where I could at least tolerate it.

See, I always understood it to mean in the morning, like in that great gettin' up morning.  Not every morning.

How about Kirk Franklin's "Hosanna"???

I don't know, but I don't see anywhere in the Bible where one of Jesus' name is "Hosanna".

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but that song never made sense to me.

I mean, during the ad lib, Kirk says "What's His name" and the choir says "Hosanna".  And the lyrics say "Hosanna forever we worship You".

I thought Hosanna meant to praise God.

Oh yeah - and on a funny note:

There's an old hymn, I can't remember which one, but one of the verses starts out "Methinks....."

Everytime I hear that I crack up because a picture of Popeye comes to mind!!!!!

How about " I know i've been changed angels in Heaven don signed my name". My name is written in blood, no angel can sign me up for anything Jesus paid it all in with his blood.

Ok
The song for once and all IS

Whatcha come here fo

Rock Daniel

Whatcha come here fo

Rock Daniel

My grandmother or someone aged said it was kinda of an old term that ment have a good time...
(HOPE THIS CLARIFIES FOR SOMEONE)

It is in the morning when I rise, but like I said on another thread I always thought they were singing;

In the morning
When I ride

I wanna white pony (I wanna rise holy)
When I ride.

OK OK OK I know I know.

What about "walk around heaven all day", and what about "Keep a inchin' along"

And then "I'm going to tell God how you treated me after while"

Ya'll shouldn't have started this one, I got a big list...

Bless that wonderful name,
What does the last line say???
See ya'll been lying in church all these years, ya'll know more names than Jesus, OH YES YOU DO...

That song actually goes like this:

Bless that wonderful name of Jesus (sing this 3 times)
No other name I know.

I'd have to stop dancing when it came to that part! Then after awhile, I just said the heck with it, I can't listen to it anymore. You'd be surprised how many people didn't care (and still don't) about the nonsense of this song.  :x

This is an old song that the deacons used to sing and it goes like this:

We are down here Lord and we are....
(waiting on you, waiting on you, waiting on you)
We are down here Lord and we are....
(waiting on you and we can't do nothing till you come) :?

You mean to tell me you're gonna sit back and wait on the Lord and not do nothing????? I mean can't you praise Him while you wait or something :?
