Hmm...

What exactly qualifies him as being "the best"?

Fair enough.

Yes, the guy was quite busy. At the same time, taste can be aquired much more easily than that level of skill. I'm almost certain that if he wasn't so busy, he'd be a lot more precise.

Nice clip.

I didnt know that an organist could be too busy playing a shout   ?/?

Especially when there is no other board player playing with you    ;)

I respect your opinion though.   8)

Can a drummer be too busy in a shout? What about a guitar player?

If so - then why can't an organist be too busy?

In my opinion, during the shout, the drummer and the bass player were the foundation.  The organ was the lead instrument and there were no other lead instruments or vocals so the show belonged to the organists.  Its just an unwritten rule in the book.

Now if he had been doing all of those runs and ideas with lets say, another board player or guitar player,  it probably wouldve sounded like a mess because there is no way someone could follow all of that.

But he was by himself which allowed him the space and freedom to stretch.

So to answer your question, yes an organist can be too busy if he's running over other musicians.

[   so the show belonged to the organists.

In my opinion, running the show is directing the course of the music - not soloing all over the music.

I'm with Drumma-Sheen on this one.  If he wasn't busy, you'd have alot of empty space.  Try gettin ya shout on with big holes in the music.   :D.

If there was someone playing keys then he could afford to scale it back a little, but he didn't have that luxury.

Well I'm not from chicago and I can tell a clean musician and he is just that!
And if you said he can play than why would he need tranpose?

So you know for a fact that this man transposes. The cat is clean Man, and like it was mentioned earlier it was shout and he was hoilding it by himself. To say that he transposes is a strong allegation. Are you sure? Do you know for a fact? And if he is VERY FAR from the best then I ask that you enlighten me cause Cornell "Has a lot to say".  ;) I ike that!!  ;D

I honestly don't see what transposing has to do with someone's ability to sound good. THe guy obviously knows how to play. What I'm listening to right now sounds alot better than some of the stuff I play, so that counts for something.
