See some people don't understand the history of Rap. Rap is prayer which originated in Afrika (with a K is the correct spelling).

I don't care for it, but I guess it's just a preference.

I’ve noticed that Christians tend to reject things embraced by a culture….

What trips me out is that most Christian rap/Holy Hip Hop has more scripture & word foundation than the majority of the songs that we sing...

I mean it is a lot of stuff we call gospel that is not biblically sound...

Rapping is no different than anything else… like said before… in all things must be done in decency and order.

Before rap blew up… it was praise and worship music that wasn’t accepted in the church…because it sounded “ungospel-ly” now it is a staple….and has replaced devotion in most churches…

Rapping is no different than preaching… especially the preachers with great wordplay

Preachers have been “rap-singing” way before Nelly… ;D

who was the prayer to??????

my personal preference is that its sucks and i say that becuz not that i dont believe it could be good but all ive really heard so far has been this bubble gum rapping about the bible and a bunch of over 40 yr. olds trying to rap thats why its horrible  to me. i did once hear this one cat spit and i was like this is ok and he could probaly reach alot of people with his ministry

Well, it is not one of my favorite styles of music (rap period) but I don't have a problem with it as long as the lyrics are scripturally based and doctrinally sound and somebody is being touched by the words and the messege.  My pastor does not mind it in the church but like I said it has to be scripturally based and doctrinally sound, cause he doesn't have a problem with telling you if it is not.   8)

It does not appeal to me but that doesn't mean it's bad or anything! I believe anything that will draw youth to the church is alright with me! As long as it it all positive and not overly hardcore, I can deal with it!

Right! thats exactly wat i believe, bcuz most of the youth are going to want something that they can bounce too. Like the stuff they listen to on the secular stations.

I'm not keen on any of the new Gospel hip hop or what have you, but if the youth will listen to that rather than the crap they play on secular radio I say go for it.

Music, ANY MUSIC, is subject to taste and then content.  I'll stick to my gospel, let the youth have theirs....

Whoa!!! wait a minute. Having Studied and I am still an understudy of African Culture And early civilization. Make no mistake "Rap" is one of the forms of cult worship. It was prayer but it was to pagan gods and voodoo. This is why I'm going to stay way out of this conversation because many do not really know thw origins of Rap. I know it comes from cult and voodoo customs.

Ask Any person from Africa and they will tell you this.

Good luck with this discussion :(
