Yamaha BBT 500 Bass Head

DWBass I'm back again, you seem to own all the gear that I happen to be doing my reserch on. So with that being said I guess
it's safe to say that you are a fan of the Yamaha BBT 500 head. Is there anything that you are unhappy about with this amp.  Your
thoughts to this matter will be very helpful in my decisions concerning the investment to my next rig.

My only concern is with the cooling fan system. Currently it is set up thermostat style meaning it only runs when the unit reaches a certain temperature. I don't think that is a good design. The fan should run at all times. Why wait for the unit to get hot and run the risk of overheating and/or failure? That is my only gripe. Other than that, I love the weight (11lbs), size (fits in a latop bag), and the power output (250w@4ohms, 500w@2ohms)! Having said that, I think most Class D amps tend to run a little warm. If you do decide to go the Yamaha route, you'd better act quickly because they are being blown out and will all soon be gone. I don't think Yamaha has anything up their sleeves as far as a replacement or if they will even continue making bass amps/cabs. If I had one more gripe it would for the amp to put out that 500w into a 4ohm load and not 2ohms. Good thing is though, you could daisy chain 4 8ohm cabs if you wanted!
