BET's Celebration of Gospel is REALLY low-budget.  Matter of fact, ALL of their award shows are low-budget.  Its "cost effective" to have one band for the whole night.  Scraping pennies, doc!

Ok last year  got a chance to go the COB. I was there for the rehearsals. Me and Teddy Campbell were watching the rehearsals. Ok from the words of Teddy......

"There ok. There a low budget version of Me with Ricky Minor."

"The drummer he is aiight, I need to him stretch out before I can say he's good"

On and by the way, last year Teddy played for his wife when they performed, did Big Mike play for Coko??

Thats funny..but kda true.  When Ricky Minor was playin there was a certian flavor but they lost it.  Its like fruit drink and Kool aid........both will get the job done when in need but the other is just better

Rickey Minor bands aint no punk at all!  That's the deffinition of a house band.  Any band that can cover the stuff that American Idol does with authenticity is a pretty accomplished group.  I wonder why they're not making this hit....   ?/? :-\

I have a feeling ill probably be watching the evening of stars tribute to Aretha rather than the COB. It comes on the same night and same time as the COB in Little Rock you may have to check your local stations to see when it comes on in your area

P.S. the reason ill be watching Aretha is because the Rickey Minor band is on that gig. Plus, Aretha is one of my moms favorite singers so well probably watch it together

Believe me bro.  There is no reason to explain your reasoning for listening/watching a tribute to a legend.  Aretha has paid her dues across the board in the gospel and secular realms.  And with Rickey's band....  I think I micht check that one out too doc!  Good lookin, bro-ham.

...I have to agree.  I recorded the C.O.B 2005 with Rycky and the gang backing errbody up and I'm very, very happy I did.  They are a true band fellas.  When it's time to get "Chuch", they do it.  As a matter of fact, that's the first time I heard Fred's "He lives" and I'd have to say that Teddy and Ricky tore that one up from the get go.  I enjoyed that version a lil' better than the Free2Worship DVD version.  (Personal preference, obviously)

...I'll be watching Aretha's Tribute and I'll switch to C.O.B on commercials. ;D
