Heart broken (!!!STOLEN GEAR!!!)
« on: May 07, 2007, 02:47:03 PM »
Well this past Sabbath my worst nightmare came true.  I brought my axes into the sanctuary as usual and then went to grab my Amp.  As I approaced where my cab usual stands I realized that it wasn't there.  I then went up to the pastor and ask him if the church had been broken into this past week and sure enough it was.  The only thing stolen out of the church was my 4ohm Black tolex Avatar 410 neo.  I couldn't believe it.  I'm still kind of in dismay that people sink as low as to break into a church.  The church re-imbursed me and I'm getting another cab, but I just still can't believe that they stole my cab.

The church thought nothing was stolen because they never really mess with my stuff and thye just checked for the house speakers, but I got got.

If anyone in the Chicago area knows anything about this please let me know.  I'm not looking to press charges, but I'd rather get my cab back and give the church back the money for my cab so that it can be used elsewhere in the church.

God will work everything out I know, but man it sure is depressing when people break into the lords house.  I remember when there was a time when even if you didn't believe in God you still had a respect.

People rest assured that these are signs that the end draws near!!!

Man this is sad how people do some stupid stuff..I know when my church moved into our old building somone came in to fix the windows and they stole my fender jazz bass. I thought I left it at home or something but reality kicked in and it was gone. Hope you get it back either that or God blesses you with a better one. I would call the local pawn shops or music stores to see if they recently got one.
I'm destined for greatness!!!

Sorry man!  It's crazy that your amp was the only thing that was stolen.  I hope the person(s) responsible get caught... but even if they don't, like my pastor would say, they might get by, but they won't get away!  God will have the final say.

+1 to the suggestion of checking local pawn shops.  Keep your eyes on ebay and craigslist too.

The messed up thing with pawn shops in chciago is that there's litereally about 500 of them.  it's almost pointless.

You know you're a bass player when... cats break into the church, steal your stuff, and the church don't even know it was gone!!! That's some mess that would happen at my church... lols...

It's good you're getting reimbursed.  That's cool...

Man I can only imagine how you feel. The hair on my arms stands when kids in my church mistake my cab for a hiding place and bump into it. The word says touch not my anointed and he will have the final say in this matter. Keep your head up. Peace.

That breaks my heart too.  A few years back our main bassist at the time was bringing in his gear but I was already up at the front with my bass so he left it downstairs in one of the Sunday school classes and some one gripped it during service it was the baddest Spector he got it back by checking pawn shops close by church.

I am praying for you.

I doubt it was an inside job.

Before I made my church my home church apparently the church had be broken into once or twice before and in fact they had stolen some monitors and house speakers, so the church wised up and bolted everything down to the ground.  You can't get them out unless you have some kind of power tool or a cutting tool.

Unfortunately since the cab was my personal cab I twas not bolted down and was just sitting up next to the choir stand on the platform.

Now the sad thing is that the same day that my speaker was stolen one of the kids in the church came up to the musicians area and straight up took the drummers brand new hat and ran of with it before he knew it was gone. I just happeend to be loading my axe's into my trunk when they came out the side door twirling the hat and putting it in a car that immediately took off.  We knew who did it, but that's not the worst part. They tried to say that they didn't have it, but i was looking right at them and the drummers friend watched them too.  I mean they came without 1 foot of me and then tried to deny it.

It's sad when you can't even really trust your church folks.

From this day on I'll be taking my cab home with me.  I use to do it and I guess I got a little to comfortable.

My total sympathy goes out to you.

One of my biggest fears is having equipment stolen. I do leave my cabinet at the church (I play every Sunday)
but always take my "brain" (the amplifier). God will restore and when he does... doesn't He do it abundantly??

You will be OK

Too bad we cant use fistacuffs. Sorry to hear that. Im guessing the church is on a rough side of town. Sounds like the church should have had better security with doors and windows.

THe church is on the westside, but not necessarily in a rough part of town.

They do have a security system, but with it being a historical building they can't just pop out the widows and replace them.   From what I father they broke into a small window that leads to the basement and from there they busted a hole in a wall to get to where they needed to go.

Oh man...that's harsh!  We know that we live in a wicked world when someone has the lack of morals to break into a church.  I have had equipment and basses stolen from venues on tour, but never from my church.  I pray that god will touch them.  I pray that they have taken some of god's power and grace with the equipment that they have stolen and they will be delivered from their sins.  It really is a true testomony that you have forgiven them.  God will provide when he blesses and annoints you Jeremyr.  Whether it be the rig or the money, he will bring it to you.

Keep the faith friend...I'll be praying for you and your church.

That really sucks, man!  I'm at the point where I'm just now starting to acquire gear, and I'm quite protective of it!  This just reinforces my protectiveness!  I have never left any equipment at the church no matter how difficult it is to move in and out.  If it's too difficult to move, then I just don't take it.

This is very unfortunate.  For this reason, I take my equipment with me at all times.  the only place i leave it alone is at home.  I never leave it at church.  I know the church is suppose to be a safe place, but this is an example of how the world is changing.  Just let us know when you're back pounding the low end.
