I will, but this one is really going to stretch me... especially because my Wolf is in the shop, and I have a feeling this will need some neck HB harmony guitar.

Oh wait... I'm not good at writing harmonies.

Well, Tele it is! lol

I was getting ready to listen to it again. It seriously will be a stretch for me. You know that lol.

I really wanna post on this one.
Can you please go over the process again?
If that's too much, can you point me to the right place to find out how?
Thanks!

come on Jay, you can do it...

to the guys wanting to know how to do it...just download the backing track, and record yourself over it. there are a number of cheap/fre programs you can use. that or video it and embed the vid from youtube. we just want to hear you play!!

I'm going to try... it took me a few minutes to figure out it's not in B (or is it...). I think that opened up a few things. For instance, it's back in the minor scale lol.

I'll be honest, I'm rusty, and I'm not even sure I figured out that little arpeggio in the intro yet.

I was heartbroken lol.

Oh OH OH, I picked up my Wolf today, though, and it's BUTTER (file and dressed--about 5 years overdue lol). Maybe it will inspire me.

The Bass lands on an Ab, it seems like. It's those ringing B notes that were throwing me off entirely.

I'm telling you, my ear is rusty. I'm sure Dave or jlynn could pop in here and be all "well, you'll want to base it out of the dorian scale, but you have the ability to switch to mixolydian when it goes here... " etc etc. lol.

It just seems like a song that needs a melodic, scalar approach, and that's what I lack in HUGE.

sounds like Abminor/B to me. Ab natural minor/Bmajor scale all the way through...

This is from 3 years ago or more, when I first heard this backing:

http://home.comcast.net/~goodsaltmusic/Music/80s-wankage.mp3

I'm playing the acoustic and electric parts. There are a few clams in the lead part...it's all one take...but I like the mood overall, so why fix 'em?  ;)

all of my ideas were sound...just sloppy in execution. the horrible brittle tone coming out of that amp direct wasn't very inspiring...

That's a nice take, Dave. Does this mean that volume swells are off-limits now? That was in my initial run through lol.

Nothing on tape yet, I'm still hashing out ideas.

I feel like it needs a little shred, and I just don't have any.

I'm going to go youtube some Gilbert stuff lol.

Oh it definitely needs some shred, especially when the distortion part kicks in.

Problem is, try as i might, i cannot shred to save my life.  :'( :(
