I'm surprised nobody mentioned the John Mayer performance. What did you guys think of it?

I've heard a few people dis it... The guy on the radio this morning actually called it 'weak'!

I thought it was tasteful, and soulful.

it was straight.  He coulda played a bit more but it still was good. My favorite part was the intro.

I didn't watch it until now and it's pretty sweet. Typical John Mayer tasteful guitar playing on a very pretty song.

It was cool, soulful and played on a very old looking strat that sounded real sweet. Also, factor in that everyone had the shakes due to the nature of the gathering and with the whole world watching. I'd have to check my "Fruit-of-the-looms" after playing that memorial service.  :)
What you didn't hear much of was the female guitarist (w/PRS) in the background. She can put it down but that wasn't the time nor the place for "Rip-N-Shred".

The MJ memorial service was very well done. I grew up watching, listening and copying the J-5 moves when I played R&B back in the days.

My prayers go out to the entire Jackson family from A to Z.

The video kept re-initializing itself so I didn't hear the entire performance, but from what I heard I thought it was really good...especially the intro.  And why shouldn't he have been on the program?  Mr. Mayer, I'm sure, was in some way touched by Michael's music and has the same right to pay tribute to the man as the other artists who were there.

and even though i didn't think it was his best performance, John Mayer is a great guitar player and is in no way overrated.

as far as his guitar, i think that's one of his sigs that has been relic'd. and those 5k(each!!!) amp heads that were behind him better sound good!!! lol

I assumed that he was using some restraint out of respect.

A lot of players don't even KNOW how to do that...

Where was Eddie, anyhow? LOL

I meant this in response to this:
                VERY WEAK
              Jonh is for sure,overated

...but I was on my phone... and I can't use the quote thingy.

If anything, John is underrated because most people only know the pop stuff on the radio... rown, go look up his trio stuff...

Watched video again.Sorry men, does nothing for me.Reason i asked why was he there. Was he a  friend of Michael`s?Did they work together.Maybe they did, just asking.Somebody said he held back.Well, he should have stayed home. You do not half step when it comes to the King.Michael NEVER HELD BACKED, PLEASE. ?/?THIS IS MY LAST POST ON THIS.There were more things to focus on that day, than Jonh Mayer perfomance.I like his music, even if he do not write his own music. ;)He is a okay guitar player.Do not make him bigger than what he is.Nothing great about this guy.He is okay, that`s it. 8)
