I am requesting to hear Rown, Jlynnb1, Dave, Jay and others play a solo jam to this same MJ track to see how they would pull it off.

Personally, I think Mayer did a very good job. 

How about let's see who can pull off the "Beat It" solo note for note.  :)

no one...not Greg Howe, not Jenifer Batten, not Steve Stevens, not Orianthi.

I'm not an EVH fanboy...he is one of the most influential players in modernguitar, I respect what he's done, that's it. I know he can play but he's never been my thing. That being said, I will contend til the day I die that the Beat It solo is as close to perfect as a solo can be. I don't even think Eddie could recreat it. I've never heard anyone nail it, ANYONE. It's just one of those times where you hit record and magic happens.

i never call anyone overrated especially if that person could beat me down with 1 finger probally, which i think john mayer could do that to anyone in this forum... rown do u have any post of u playing i would like to hear some :))

Hey just the way i feel.The more i learn about the guitar.The less i am impressed,with some of our guitar greats.Even in that Stevie R. clip.He is feeding off that one riff,through-out the entire song.But,he is the man.He is for sure in my top five.My top five is.
