It's interesting seeing people say they've tried drinking supplements and still couldn't gain weight.  Some of those weight-gaining shakes contain over 1,000 calories.  A person's metabolism must be crazy to go through a few of those shakes a day and still not gain weight.

Very interesting indeed.

I did the weight-gain shakes. I also tried 3 Ensure Plus a day on top of my regular diet.

I did everything I could. Lots of pizza, junk food, pasta, ice cream, chocolate and other fattening desserts, milk shakes, bread like crazy (I still eat bread like crazy... lol), potatoes, cheese on everything. I remember a time when I would have a Big Texas Cinnamon Roll (480 cals) with an Ensure Plus (380? cals) after breakfast each morning. Basically, everything I read that people should avoid if they're trying to lose weight is what I ate to try to gain. I'm glad the article mentioned how frustrating it is and how it's just as hard to gain (for some people) as it is to lose.

But as I always tell Britt, when that metabolism starts to slow down as you get older..... you'll gain. And you may not be as happy as you thought you'd be.... :D

I used to be one of those people.  In my late teens/early 20's, I tried everything.  I ate like crazy and I used a product called "Maximum Weight Gain".  All those shakes did was give me gas, big time.  The problem for me was that I had: 1. A very lean body.  My body fat percentage was 8%.  2. A very high metabolism. 3. A very active life.  I worked in construction, building pre-fab homes (meaning, there was no down-time since we did assembly-line work).  Plus, I played basketball a LOT.

All of that has changed now.  >:( :D

Highly motivated.  My wife is going to Trinidad to visit a sick relative for the summer.  I will be working out like a mad man.  I plan on looking like a new man when she returns.

I'm about to start my water-only diet soon. I did it last year during the summer break, again earlier this year for lent, and plan on going at it once more from here until the beginning of the school year. I never knew how much I craved sugary drinks until I began refraining from them.

Day 11 of nothing but water! How much longer can I go? How much longer should I go!?

That's totally up to you. Just know that the longer you do it, the more you'll gravitate toward it naturally.

Right!

What is your purpose?

Idk honestly. I guess to restore some order on my health habits. For the last couple of months I drunk (correct word?) more lemonade and sweet tea than water. So I guess this water streak is about getting in the habit of drinking more water a day than other drinks.

Okay, if your goal is to get in the habit of drinking water, I'd do water only for about a month. By then, your body will probably be craving water. For me, it took about a month and not only did I not drink enough water - I didn't drink ANY water at all - ever. I've always hated water. Now, it's all I drink. Drinking a bottle as I type this. 8) ;) :D

My personal rule is that I don't deny myself the stuff I want (when it comes to food/drinks). I just enjoy it in moderation, and I make myself "pay" for it. If I'm over my calories, but I want it, I eat it and then make myself burn the calories. If I want some sweet tea or cream soda, I make myself drink a glass of water FIRST, and then I can have the sweet tea (but truthfully, I don't drink much so by the time I've had the water, I don't even want anything else to drink. Works every time).

So yeah, I'd say try about a month and see what happens. Tea and lemonade in moderation are not bad for you, but of course, you'll want to drink as much water as you can - especially during summer months.

Oh, and it's drank. You only use drunk with the words have or has. (Over the past month, I have drunk more water than anything. Last week, I drank sweet tea for the first time).

Ok thanks for that (the information on water and the grammar)!  :D

I'll be following this plan:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kris-gethin-12-week-daily-trainer-intro.html

I have a feeling this program will make a huge difference in my journey.  I've been working out for a few years now.  In the beginning EVERYTHING was challenging.  Over time I've fallen into a rut.

This program is pushing me past my comfort zone and forcing me to lift with an intensity I haven't had recently.

I'm on Day 4 and I'm more sore than I've been in a long time.  My legs are still sore from my Saturday workout.  My chest and triceps are sore from yesterday.  Today is Back and Biceps.  My body is ready.

I think you would love the "Insanity" workout...it'll definitely push you beyond your comfort level.

I'm down six pounds from my weigh-in a week ago...seeing the numbers on the scale go down makes my motivation go up

Yes it does.  Results are the ultimate motivator.

I doubt I'll give the Insanity workout a try.  I'm such a huge fan of lifting steel.

Eating my pre-workout meal of grilled tilapia and half of a sweet potato.

So focused.
