Have you ever spread a rumor and the person you were telling it too was the person you were talking about?
I had to jump back to this one. When I was a sophomore in college, I was sitting in front of the TV at the Residence Hall. An incoming freshmen sat in the chair next to me and started asking me about life on campus, so I started filling him in on things. Then he started telling me all the rumors he'd heard about who was cool, who to stay away from, and who was just plain crazy. Since we had never introduced ourselves, I got to hear what the collective brain-trust had been telling him about me. It was all fairly neutral, although I was notorious for cooking in my room (MAJOR campus offence) and that came up.
Now, back in order.....
Have you ever felt the need to give a "BFF" the cold shoulder?
Forget cold shoulder. How 'bout a a left hook to the jaw? One of my best childhood friends was C-L-O-W-N-I-N' at my wedding reception. When I was growing up I had a REALLY stupid nickname that I long ago grew out of. I respectfully asked people to quit calling me that. In between hitting on several married bridesmaids, swigging from the champagne bottle at the head table, and just generally making a total *** of himself all evening, Rod decided to yell across the room to me, using the verboten nickname. I headed straight for him. My other best friend's father caught me when I was about 5 feet from Rod and tactfully guided me in another direction.
After a couple more similar episodes on trips back home, I just decided I've had enough. Haven't spoken to him in about 7 or 8 years.
Have you ever stood silently by while one friend flat out LIED to another friend?
