What is the best method on developing faster hand speed
I've used the Dennis Chambers approach for awhile but then I stumbled across the extreme drumming site for the world's fastest drumming and the drumometer and started using some of their ideas. Johnny Rabb,Mike Mangini and Jotan Afanotar. They hace guys doing singles, doubles, paradiddles using some extreme techniques and methods.
Anyway one is five strokes per hand with a paradiddle in between and you work up to speed with this 30 seconds per combination. Another is to play per hand three strokes(triplet sounding),four strokes( paradiddle sounding) and so on. Then there is aa exercise I picked from a speed metel drummer using multiples of four for hands and feet simultaneously, in example;RRRR LLLL,RRRR RRRR LLLL LLLL,RRRR RRRR RRRR LLLL LLLL LLLL,RRRR RRRR RRRR RRRR LLLL LLLL LLLL LLLL. This is done continuously all the way through then do 32nd notes for as long as you can take it. Also check out Jim Chapin's video,Speed, Power, Control, Endurance,Stick Control book and Joe Morello's Chop Builders. If you don't have any speed after that, you aren't meant to.
