Crying/Wheeping when in the presence of the Lord
« on: June 21, 2005, 07:03:54 AM »
Hi Friends in Jesus
Is there any specific reason [biblical] why I cry/weep when I am in the presence of the Lord, because you feel so simple worshipping God when in church crying and of course the nose running as well.
One of the elders told me not too long ago that this happens to him as well and he even ask God to take it away, but when it was gone he missed it so must that he ask God to give it back to him.

Can this be a sign of spiritual growth in the Lord?
Anyone had the same experience?

Be Blessed
Mike

Mike darling, that might just be the way the Spirit moves you.  You know - some people jump up and down and shout, some people feel like runnin', some people feel like dancin'...etc, etc.  And some people - it makes them cry.  A good kind of cry.  I think it's alright.  When the Spirit moves me, it makes me cry, and I don't really care anymore if people look at me or wonder why I'm crying.  I think it used to bother me because people used to think something was WRONG, like I was crying because of some stress in my life or something going wrong in my life, and it was none of that, that's just what happens when the Spirit moves me.

So, I think it's alright.  You're just like me :)

I think its wonderful when you cry in the presence of the Lord...I'm not psychologist...but i know for me...it takes a lot for me to cry...but when i do..I'm completley vulnerable..and when i cry i the presence of the Lord..during worship..I know the Lord is moving through me, over me, under me...and I'm completly engulfed in his presence...

Hmm when crying I'm hiding nothing from him...I'm presenting myself completly with all my flaws...and Lord have your way in me...

Cryin in the Lords presenec is all good...
I love the feeling of just being in his presence...whatever you do in his presence when he moves you its all good....(I hope no one takes that the wrong way)

totall agree. I do cry in the presence of the Lord and dont care what people think. In the presence of men, u may act like a big guy but when u r in the presence of your maker, u r just a baby. Babies only know how to cry.Remember the same Bible says except we become like Little children, we cant inherit the Kingdom of God.

Whenever God touches you in a way no human has ever done before, i think that could make you cry.

Crying is no sign of weakness in the presence of the Lord.Go ahead, u r in the presence of your maker, cry before Him that u may not cry in the presence of a man.

Man... you cry and take it all in my man.  I don't always cry when I'm in the spirit but most of the time I do.  I think it's partly cause we realise God's awsomeness.  The other is the Holy Ghost makes us more sensitive to the things of God.
I personally love it when I get worked up in the spirit enough to cry, it cleanses me to no end.  I feel completely refreshed after a good cleansing cry.  I can't even get through simple testimony's without working up a tear or two and fighting to hold back the water works.  I'm getting teared up right now while typing this post.
As DivineIvy said, it may be how the Spirit moves you.  To be honest it is not for us to understand the mysteries of God.  Just know this, it may not even be about you.  Your crying may be necessary to bless others that are not as in tune to the spirit.  We feed off of each other.  I could be playing the keyboard and some worship start, then someone breaks loose into a shouting worship.  I feed off of that and move deeper in the spirit.  All things of God have a purpose.

Be blessed

Cry out to yoour Father!!

Its good to cry in the presence of your Father!! To tell him that His awesome and for all the things He's done for we know we are not worthy but yet and still he gave the ultimate sacrifice and allows us to come into His presence just to talk to him and he talks back to us! Thats a reason to cry!!

And of course there are several scriptures that say what His response is to our crying or crying out:

Ps 34:17-The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. (KJV)

Ps 55:17-Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. (KJV)

Luke 19:40-And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. (KJV)

Ps 56:9-When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. (KJV)

Ps 57:2-I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. (KJV)

Rom 8:15-For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (KJV)

I have found that in one way it feels like you are closer to God when you do it as a man. You know we are taught not to cry. I find when that spirit of weeping comes over me its eaiser to get a prayer through. I think that could be a time God is moving you to intercessory prayer.
Vision without action is just day dreaming. I miss practicing.

« Reply #7 on: June 21, 2005, 11:27:59 PM »
I can't say if you are closer to God or not..u have to feel this way in your heart.  I believe Gods presence is very strong within a soul till they express there feeling this way sometimes in crying when God moves within there soul..God use people different ways. I used to wish that I could cry..but, i don't.  Gods moves within me a different way, it seems like i am just standing there with no expression but, in my spiritual mind  the Lord is always speaking to me and english, where i can understand what he wants..i know that he is moving and that he is in the presence..i do alot of praising him with my tamborine.  This is why when we all praise God our appearance is mostly different. Be blessed.

Thanks for the response.
Yesterday morning I woke up early and being obedient to the holy spirit I start praying, when I played on the keyboard "I love you Lord" the tears just came it is so wonderful to be in HIS presence.

This morning the same time I was too tired and went back to bed but I clearly heard this voice calling my name Michael and I know it was not my wife. I am so overjoyed to experience all these things because you always heard other people in church going through this, but the Lord knows my heart. Although I didn't spent alot of time praying but at least I did pray before going to work.

If I only can get early in bed to rise and shine and seek the presence of the Lord evry morning at 05h30 before the family wakes up at 06h30.

Question: When last did you see the miracle power of the Lord in your church on in your life?

WoW
crying before the lord
what an experience this is indeed

i am alot like LorenzoS and i think he said it best when he said
"I think its wonderful when you cry in the presence of the Lord, but i know for me...it takes a lot for me to cry...but when i do..I'm completley vulnerable and i know when I'm like this the Lord is moving through me, over me, under me...and I'm completly engulfed in his presence... "

kinda like the southern gospel song by Quinton Mills called "Windows of my Soul"....i literatly feel as though he walks to and fro through the windows of my soul when i'm crying in his pressences

as LorenzoS went on to say
"when crying I'm hiding nothing from him...I'm presenting myself completly with all my flaws...and saying Lord have your way in me... "

but one thing i've noticed i've done this is more during prayer meetings than regular worship service

i mean there's been times in regular worship services when i completely break down and cry

but most my crying has been in prayer services
when i was going to my previous church, we had what we called Soaking Services (better known as prayer meetings) and that's exactly what we did, we didnt meet to read the bible or have church, we met to just pray and to worship God

and these services could happen at any time

i remember real well there was this one time the Pastor felt to have a week long Soaking Service at the church
where those that wanted to gather at the church for the whole week and we prayed every 2-3 hours and some of the meetings i was a part of during that week was completely unreal

i recall real well, there was one day i think maybe it was on a Wednesday we went in for prayer around 3pm, well i'd been praying and feeling the spirit of God but i'd not broke down like most of the rest not yet atleast
well everyone got done and left for awhile and was to return to the church around 5:30 or 6pm
anyways i remember as everyone left, they kept the music on
and there was only 2 or 3 of us that stayed behind and i was one of them

i got over to the short pew against the wall that i sat at and layed down in the floor in front of it and just was laying there praying and in worship to God

next thing i knew the spirit really feel on me and i just began to weep uncontrollably
i mean i tried to stop but couldnt and i just cried and cried and then cried some more, i got up and just walked around the church praising God for what i was feeling, cause it was something i'd never felt before
well the next thing i knew ppl was coming in for the next prayer service and they just started crying as they came through into the sancturary
just unreal
and by the time it was all over and done with i got out of the church close to midnight that day

and had been there vasting in the glory and anointing since around 3pm
just an unreal service
and the rest of the Soaking Meeting Revival that week went the same way
just unreal movement of God that took place

so yeah crying and weeping is nothing to be ashamed of
i would love to do it more than what i do, but for some reason i cant just let myself go

Every Sunday for us at Lion of Judah International Ministries, Albany, GA.

God has elevated us to another level of worship in this region. This past Sunday was powerful.  We closed out our Psalmist/Minstrel Workshop/Youth Explosion and souls received the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues, people were healed, chains broken etc.

Anyone who didnt get what they needed from the Lord Sunday just didnt want it bad enough.  All you had to do was simply open your mouth and your request was answered.

I for one was rolling in the floor shouting and praise God.  The way our church is set up my keyboard is in the corner, (a tight fit) I was playing the shouting music and jumped up and started shouting (think I tore up the drums lol)  IT WAS POWERFUL and I expect God to move everyday!!!  :D

Mike, you can't help but cry when you enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courst with praise. That is when you are in a worship service AND when you really labor before the Lord in prayer.

I stopped wearing eyeliner & mascara to church, 'cause I would be an ugly mess when it was all over. :D  Talk about a Tammy Faye wanna be.

P.S.  At bible study tonight, my pastor said his dad (whom I think was also a pastor) used to do that when the Spirit moved him.  Tears would just flow on his silent face.

I think it's beautiful when people are strong enough to allow the Spirit to have His way with them...when they are open enough to let Him move.  That is beautiful.

Talking about Pastor's crying.
My Pastor was going though a difficult time years ago(before) my time and elders, deacons & members left the church. God sent in so many people after that(my family included) and we really came to love this man of God.
One weekend on a break away session we just thanked him and said how we appreciate all his hard work he started breaking out in tears, I tell you the whole room was crying and he could only give God the thanks for carrying him through.

He even mentioned it in service to the kids that they must not think he is a cry baby when he cries it is just how you look back into your life and she how God has worked.

So the bottomline is that Pastor's are human as well and we need to tell them how we appreciate what they are doing for us.

God made us with the ability to cry. That lets me know there is a time when we need to cry, we need the emotional outlet. The Bible lets us know there is a time appointed to weep.

When I'm praising and worshiping God, sometimes the realisation of how The Almighty God loves and cares about tiny-winy me gets so overwhelming, I can't help but cry.
When I am weak I am strong.....'when I am crying, I am happy'
Praise the Lord for He s Good.
