You're right, she only said effiminate.  And truth be told, I don't know if that's a problem we will EVER be able to fix.

Be a man?  What exactly does that mean, sir?  Outside of the way he may walk (out of habit or whatever), what makes him NOT a man?  If you can call someone a "gay MAN", aren't you still calling him a "MAN" when all is said and done?

This is actually kinda funny....I know a little boy right now who lives in a single-parent home with his mom.  He has some "feminine ways" as we call them.  But don't let some of his mama's friends come over and take their shoes off.  I swear li'l J has a foot fetish so help me!!!  She has to whip him to make him stop playing with women's feet and legs!
Nobody held a gun to my head and made me stay somewhere that didn't agree with my spirit...
I guess we need some LGM sensitivity training or something.  I'm sure we all remember being kids and either being "that" kid or seeing some kid that was "different"
I was fortunate in that I was around my dad enough growing up and he taught me how to do things that many consider manly (working on cars, building things, etc) I've had some heated debates about it, but I still think boys need to have a male figure somewhere to teach them some "manly" stuff.

Those shoes LOOK like girl shoes (the pink ones).

But for real, some of us "manly bruthas" have got to start being examples to these young boys.  Single parent homes are on the rise.  Even in "double-parent" homes, things happen.  Children watch.  They see things.

In 2nd grade, I delivered a speech in front of Congressman Harold Ford, Sr. at Winchester Elementary School.  I remember being VERY articulate.  I still have the letter he wrote back to the school afterwards...I'll never lose it.

But the boys who made F's in English...couldn't talk in a complete sentence to save their lives...and so forth...were saying (on the day of the event) "look at that f*g!"

I had no idea what the word sex was, nor was there a desire to have it at that age.  In those days, if a girl started to "develop" and we noticed, we had all the thrill we need.

We have to be protective of these little guys (and the grown ones too).

Believe it or not (and I KNOW this to be true about some folks I know), some gay guys become friends with straight guys to LEARN to be more "manly" and do more "manly" things.  Daddy didn't teach it...maybe new friend will.  But when the new friend (not "love interest") shuns them away for not being equally as manly, the example is gone and then what?

And who decides exactly what is "manly"?  Some people who cut grass and work on cars are.....

I don't think (now, I wasn't there, so I'm not, in any way, trying to negate your story (and thanks for the share, BTW)) that those boys were commenting on your sexual orientation, as much as, they were simply jealous, VERY jealous, and the only way they could express their jealousy was to use the term, "f*g".  :-\

Great point Herman!
Manhood is quite a fragile thing.  Many lessons about life can be learned while hearing tools clanking  or while brushing sawdust off your clothes.  Ultimately, it's all about being happy in your own skin.

In reference to the intial post...I just talked about this in my Worship class last night.

It's not that the people don't love God or don't know God.

When Jesus went to Simon the leper home in Bethany, we find that Lazarus, who Jesus raised from the dead, and the Disciples, who walked with Jesus were all there. These are the same who witnessed and/or reaped the miracles of Jesus. But now they are not excited about Jesus anymore. They sat around and ate with Jesus as if He was one of the boys. They became comfortable and laid back with Jesus. Yet it took Mary to kneel at Jesus' feet and worship Him.

The men got so involved with the work of the Lord that they forgot about the Lord of the work. Some people get so wrapped up with putting on productions, choir rehearsals, etc. that they never stop to offer real heart worship. That's what it sounds like with the program you attended littlelamb----people not giving their best in worship.

I wear that style (minus the flip flops). But not to church. A man knows how to dress for the occasion.
I dont see that style as gay, I'd call it preppy. For some reason, when A young black man isnt dipped in hip hop gear, he is labled gay.

I think quite a few items of hip hop gear could easily make the "gay" fashion list but that's just me.

I agree, i don't view that style as gay at all. In fact i like it, minus the flip-flops. Put a pair of low-top chuck taylors on that and we are good to go!!

As far as hip hop gear is concerned, i am one of those who anti-hiphop gear people. I can't stand those fitted caps, baggy jeans and throwbacks.

Then be very careful....if you don't speak or walk (assuming you do these like what society calls a "man"), you could be the next suspect!  Real talk!

Doesn't feel so good on the other side of the bashing, does it?  LOL!

Hey I'm getting old and times change.  I used to get my hair braided as a kid on the weekends and I was embarrassed to be seen in public.  I couldn't believe it when braided hair became stylish for guys.

I don't, and I've NEVER had a problem with society saying such a thing. 8)
